I love the atmosphere in this piece. The circular framing of the woods and creature lead my eye right to the person to the right. I also like the addition of white areas to show eyes. Are there creatures in this forest? Or is all a figment of this personβs imagination?

Starting out with thumbnails is always a good idea I guess. In general I like to work very loose at the beginning.
Using only 3 or 4 values at the start helps a lot with clarity.
