*EDIT: PLEASE READ! THIS IS NOT AND NEVER WAS A "WOLVES WILL NOT KILL HUMANS STAMP" !*I made this stamp wayy back in 2010...and still people cannot be arsed to read what this stamp states. I cannot be bothered to go back and re-word this stamp if I could it would be "Do not demonize wolves". Wolves are natural predators so naturally instead of wasting valued energy they would go for people if given the chance and if given the confidence too! because its "easy prey" espically children (I get that) HOWEVER do not demonize the whole spieces just because of it wolves are NOT blood-thirsty killers they do it, to survive however no animals are innocent little angels either.
so please anti-wolfers go somewhere else and try to stop educating me on what I already know!
*The stats are only based of centeral america back in 2010! these stats would have changed so if you want the newest stats then please go to the international wolf centre.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok the reason I made this is because I'm fairly bored (I haven't got a tablet untill when I get back home). This is also to prove a point, wolves don't really attack humans there have been only 4/5 reported cases of a wolf attack during the 20th-21st century -not death however- (I'm not counting wolf-dogs). I'm not saying that they never do, however the main cause of wild wolves attacking a human is either through a provoked attack or a desease such as rabies which affects the brain.
Here is a small article from the *international wolf center which explains that are wolves dangerous or not [link]
"From the small number
of documented attacks, it can be concluded that
the vast majority of wolves do not pose any
threat to human safety. A person in wolf country
has a greater chance of being killed by a dog,
lightning, a bee sting or a car collision with a
deer than being injured by a wolf."
Say what you will on this stamp as long you comments are respective and before you comment read through all the facts first or other comments which may have already been answered. I do also agree though that as wolves do not really pose a threat to human safety they are still wild animals so I'm not adviseing anyone to go up and hug one, so no I do not consider myself to be a wolfaboo* I love the wolf but I also work on fact.
thanks for reading ^^!
Feel free to use anywhere

I know also wolves do smell bad due to the fact I was a handler for them at a conservation trust for some time (and smelt of dead rabbit). As I said to alllll of the others who have commented on this stamp it is not because I think that wolves will not attack people its because I am against the demonization of them as a spieces, they may not be little innocent angels but they are not evil either just animals who are predators who act on instinct that is all ^^.

Clearly I have if you take your time to read the comments and my replys below you will find that I have researched and I have not stated that wolves are saints and WON'T attack people. Of course they will! however this stamp is stateing that wolves aren't blood thirsty demons either. They are wild animals, apex predators at that. So I belive before you comment actually read firstly on the opinion and what I have answered to other people. Have a nice day thanks for commenting.

Pretty much any animal will attack a human if they feel the need to.
I saw this documentary of elephants attacking villagers in India, I believe, and the elephants actually started EATING people. If I remember correctly, they weren't 100% unprovoked, but they were acting out because the herd was divided and they got separated somehow.
Then there's the bear attacks... I saw a few videos of domestic cats attacking people! One of them even helped catch a robber that way (by scratching their face and having their blood on her paws and on the window)!
Then there was the case of one man who was killed by his 'pet' buck in the rutting season...
So pretty much every single animal out there can kill a person. I don't see why wolves are always singled out when there are plenty of other attackers!
But great stamp!
Glad you don't seem to be getting TOO many flame comments, like a stamp like this might invite. But if wolves were really out to kill humans like people say, then how did early humans domesticate the wolf in the first place?
Sorry for rambling! I don't see a lot of good stamps like this, so... yeah, sorry!!

I agree with everything you've said. Sometimes I think many anti-wolfaboo people just jump on anybody who shows a slight affection towards wolves, or, comment on the true nature of them. Wolves aren't saints, and neither are the bloodthirsty killers... They're just animals, acting on instinct. You have explained it very well in your description and your replies to people.

If you read the other comments below and the artists description you will see me note that wolves DO KILL PEOPLE! however it is quite un-common like all wild animals they will harm people (they are apex predators after all). However this stamp was trying to get at that wolves do kill humans yes but they should not be demonized as blood thirsty killers they are doing doing like all predators do and what natural instinct tells them too and NOT in every case its the animals fault. Children running around and left un-attended etc can be mis-taken for prey and is a very easy target and predators will take the easier less life-threatening option.

This is true, and though the chances are low, it HAS happened. So I would say it's best to be as cautious around them as with any animal, especially as with any predator. It's okay to love them, and even if you know it may be unlikely, at least know that they can very easily kill you if they really wanted to.

-agreed- if you read my very long reply to this other person you will find basically all the facts between wolf killings and records in which I have recieved during my reasearch. Basically to cut all that short it is NEITHER the animals or the humans fault killings happen however we cannot blame either side as into why it happens . Sadly its a case of being in a certain place at the wrong time or suituation.

I do not really understand what you mean however I am purely guessing that you haven't read the description, the information or my reply's to other people. I do believe that wolves attack humans and they indeed have done however, it is pure fiction based on statistics that a wolf will attack a human un-provoked or that it is a common event.
please read my reply to the person below so that you will get a full description and understanding of what this stamp means. I created this stamp based purely on fact and stats in which I have obtained in my scientific studies to *large carnivores. Also my results in which I have discovered through field research.
Also I would like to inform you that you don't understand the term *wolfaboo, a wolfaboo is clearly a person who basically thinks that the wolf animal is the best animal in the entire world and they go a little bit over the top in how they believe its ."best". However I will enlighten you to the fact that the wolf is not my favourtie animal my favourite animal is the Mesothelae spiders and the now extinct *Spinosaur.
Thank you for your comment , I didn't really understand what you meant however.

Mainly thats because I could only get the statistics from the *Internation wolf center which is american based. I do however have statistics for europe etc (I would use that data however its a bit outdated so I'd be giving out false information). However the data for Europe* and the USA* are fairly the same. I'm not sure about asia as yet however if you look into the scientific data of animal attacks you may find an answer for it there . However from looking at the data the results are clear to each one.
Yes wolves do on the rare occasion will attack a human-being (from looking at the data around 5 cases are recorded each year in each country with wild wolves -mainly in the us where wolf packs are high in number- however that cannot be exact because some cases are not recorded and banked officially). This is mainly a result to rabies and brain infections that can sometimes spread from a domestic dog to a wild wolf pack, which then in effect to that a wolf may attack a human if given the right circumstances. There is also the cause of rapid environmental destruction. Which again results to humans developing farm plots and land onto the wolves territory, which encourages them to move closer in with humans. The more subjected a wild animal is to humans the more "courage" (I can't find a better word to explain) that animal will have into developing agressive and unknown behaviour.
However its not always the humans fault, because there have been known causes of wolfs packs moving down into towns and cities where their have been higher risks of wolf attacks on humans because people make the mistake of venturing too close or being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
So in effect I have tried to explain in as much detail as I can on why the statistics as of what they are. (mainly so I won't have to type this out again to other people XD). I'm not saying wolves do not attack humans, because they do (even though it is very uncommon), however just to back up with fact that it is not always the animals fault as to why* the attack happened in the first place. I study the wolf and other large carnivores physcology in detail as part of a scientific diploma so I'm just trying to get the right facts and data out there so people can understand .
thank you for the comment and sorry for the somewhat large reply, just so you could understand why .

Well, maybe shy was a wrong word. This comment was made some time ago, I don't remember. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that wolves are not demons and not forest spirits, they are just animals and predators like lions and others. Of course they are on the top of the foodchain since they are... guess what... predators, exactly. But they are just animals. Nothing more or less.
