Description
Drawing of a British soldier of the 1/7th Sherwood Foresters gaurding the barbed wire gate in the front line at Cambrin. The photo I copied was taken on Semptember 16, 1917.
By then, the troops in Europe were so stationary, that they had built up the trenches. which is why this one has a floor and walls.
I love the rediculously huge bayonettes the british had during ww1. they were 18 inches long because because they pretty much had no ammo. the government told their soldiers "the enemy will see your bayonettes and run in fear." because of that, they almost lost an entire generation. anyway, you can see that huge bayonette in full veiw. it shows up a lot better then i thoguht it was going to XD
I got the picture out of this book i have called The Encyclopedia of Warfare
drawn with a black papermate ballpoint pen
full veiw is huge cos i said so

Nicely detailed and stylized. I really like the mood and atmosphere. Very good composition.
