^_^ AWESOME COSPLAY!! What kind of conventions do you go to??!! Maybe I have seen you at one. You look so good!! Too bad you can't post pictures on the buffy-boards anymore. Everyone would freak out when they would see this.

I usually got to Cons in Ohio and Indiana, mailing Mid-Ohio Con, Indy Horror Con, Horror-o-rama, Starbase Indy and Gem city Comicon. I'd love to go to some of the bigger cons someday. I also cosplay as the 9th Doctor, a Battlestar Galactica viper pilot, and Spike form transformers(making me 2 spikes...lol). I did post the pic on Buffy-Boards about 2 years ago. Everyone loved it.

That is so cool. I have never been to any of those. I mostly go to anime cons. I go to Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh, PA. I also go to Otakon in Baltimore, MD. I have always wanted to go to a Sci-fi convention or a Comic con though.
I have cosplayed as Selphie from Final Fanasty 8. This coming up convention, I am going to be this character called the Millenium Earl. He is like..a bad guy monster thing.

The only anime con I've ever been to was Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio. I watched anime in high school, but I had no idea who most people were dressed as. I used to watch Macross/Robotech and Project A-Ko.

I always wanted to go to Ohayocon. I went to Colossalcon before.
I love Robotech!!
So awesome!! Anime is a life long hobby. They come out with new ones all the time. It is hard for me to keep track of them all.

Where is Colossalcon held at?
I like the older animes. A lot of the newer ones seem a little crazy to me. lol

Kalahari Waterpark Resort and Convention Center was the latest one. I went to it about two years ago. I am not sure where it was. When I went, it was the first time I every stayed in Ohio...so I really wasn't sure. lol. They are for sure, but some are really awesome. I could give you suggestions if you every feel the need to get back into anime.

D Gray Man, Bleach, Trigun, Pretear(this is a girly one, lol), Death Note, and Fullmetal Alchemist. These all are really good. You should check out Bleach for sure. It has some really good fight scenes.

As long as it's not DBZ lol I used to watch DBZ, then I just gave up on it. The really funny part, I've met almost all of the voice cast for it.

Very, very nice.
I've never tried a joss-verse costume before, though a friend and I are planning on doing Doctor Horrible and Captain Hammer for a Halloween at some point.

Only problem is...we're both girls...
So my blonde friend will be Dr Horrible and I, the brunette, shall be Captain Hammer.
And if we do it I shall be sure to take pictures.

That's nice to know. I've never actually been to a con before, just renaissance festivals and such.

Cons are fun, except when no on knows who you are dressed as. I went to an anime con dressed as the 9th Doctor form Doctor Whjo, and only the dealers seemed to know who I was.

Ooh, a Doctor costume. Yeah, I can see why that would be frustrating, especially if you worked really hard on it...
My friend (the one who's gonna be Dr Horrible) only ever goes to anime conventions, so it's pretty clear who's playing who at those things. I wanna go to a fantasy or sci fi convention if I ever go to one, and the issue I think I'll run into is getting a costume that will be good and recognizable but cheap (and seeing as I'd love to cosplay as Arwen that might be difficult to pull off)

An Arwen costume will cost a bit to put together. My 9th Doctor costume was the cheapest one I've done. I just had to buy boots and a sonic screwdriver. Spike was the most expensive since I had to buy the coat. I also have an off duty viper pilot costume from Battlestar Galactica, but I'm always fixing things on it, so it'll never be finished...lol

I'm hoping an Arwen costume won't cost an arm and a leg...I have an evenstar already, and I have medieval style gowns. What I really want is one of the replica gowns from the movie but those do cost an arm and a leg.
Ah, I believe the Spike coat was worth it. That's something that won't just be a costume piece.
Never seen battlestar galactica, but good luck on the costume.

From what you've described, you have a good Arwen costume. yeah, the show accurate one will cost you your first born, which is why homemade cosplay is so much better
I'm thinking about doing some Angelus cosplay.

>sigh< but it's soooo preeeeeetty. And I want it. Oh well.
Oh yes, do an Angelus one. Just don't do it with the long hair...even David Boreanaz looked bad in that.

GiantGeekyRobot In reply to owletstarlet [2010-03-13 20:03:59 +0000 UTC]
I know I could never pull off the long hair. I tried growing it out once, and looked like a male Mrs. Brady lol.
I think I can pull of a season 4/5 Angel/Angelus. I've gain a little weight since I took the Spike pick, so I think I can do a passable David
I'm also working on a Capt. Jack Harkness costume from "Torchwood".

Lol, just got a mental image of you in the spike costume with Mrs Brady hair.
Conversely whenever I try to get my hair real short, it looks sorta boyish. Currently it looks vaguely like Roger's hair from the Rent movie, just a few inches longer.
I've not actually watched every season of Angel yet- I'm about to start season four. But I've been told that David got a little heavier, but whatever, because he's still incredibly sexy (even now, at forty, in the show Bones he's hot). Anyway, I'm sure you'll do a great Angel costume. If I did a buffyverse costume I would probably be Dark Willow.
I don't know who Captain Jack is because I've never seen torchwood, but I bet it'll be great.
