Description A moth that landed on my house wall.
At first I thought it was a leaf^^

Apparently it is a poplar hawk moth (thanks to servetej )

Plus they try to strangle accidentally-incestuous Boeotians!

Well, that's the clincher. Seriously though, nice photo.

I guess someday I could start uploading some of my metric ton of bug photos...

Thanks

ItΒ΄s winter now so most of my photos, will be of dead things, but there is a beauty in that, too.
Also finally someone, who uses the metric system, like a normal person. ^^

It is a moth
Or a grub with hightech leaf-wings^^

Yeah I know it's a moth, but I want to know what kind exactly... It looks very much like a poplar hawk-moth,Β Laothoe populi, it looks so very much like it that it probably is one of those. They are superduper awesome

Hihi jeah that's true, it's one of my gratest passions. That's me, going outside, finding some interestings species (bird, moth, butterfly, plant, dragonfly, etc.), learn it's name, and something about it's behaviour, and then stuff my head with as most local animals/plants as possible. That's why, when I saw this pretty picture, I HAD to figure out what it was, because I know it's some species that live in Europe 'cause I've seen it before in a fieldguide, and now I've learned something new c: now my head is a little more stuffed than it was this morning xD.

That is quite impressive to be honest
I would say I am probably too lazy for that I take picture, if it is alive. If it is dead, I collect the bones.

By the way how did you go about it? Did you use an identification flowchart,
or did you already have a rough idea and went for the brute force approach?^^
