At the fort there was this staircase and we decided to be a little adventurous and go down it. Boy was it dark and I was afraid there might be bats (YUCK! ), but to our surprise it was just a damp tunnel that led out towards Kittery Harbor. There were small windows (well peep hole type windows for shooting guns through) and I was standing at the window when I took the shot. There were other type caverns at the fort too. It was pretty cool.

I love old historical-type stuff. We saw the sign and it said 10 miles ahead so we followed and look what we found.
