Description
Fifth installment in the Commander Shepard series. This is control. I feel that the quote used sums up the ominous tone of Shepard's speech. Shepard has become something akin to a Omnipotent Goddess.I feel that this ending, however, would become a vicious circle. Stripped of emotions and the chaos of humanity (organics) she might end up picking up where the catalyst left and send the reapers out to harvest one more time. Or worse, she might end up coming up with a worst solution (destruction of the species that wish for too much power, perhaps?).
Then again, things might end up well with Shepard as the Universe' guardian, but I think that eventually the utopia she wishes for will crumble on the wake of organics' ambition.
*After talking with some of you through the comments on the other artworks, I realized that I had forgotten to include an interpretation for the option of "refusal" (where you decide to shoot the catalyst), so I'll also be doing that one.

It's still the best ending IMO. LOL

Idk, I think the best ending for me would have been to kill the Catalyst (or try to) and eventually win the war (even if the cost ended up being greater). Though I have to admit that if God-Shepard were to become the final boss of the next MassEffect game, that would be super awesome (for me, at least. I'm a sucker for misunderstood evil guys and tragic figures)!

I don't think they will do that, but it would be cool yes. For me a good ending would be Shepard surviving, but being severely injured and unable to be millitary. Closure and taking away the possibility of shepard ever returning as aprotagonist.(I would have gone the clinicaly insane route, but that's just me.)

Yeah, I can picture her maimed in some way. Without a leg or arm. Or maybe even unable to walk any longer.

Yeah me too. I think it would be believable enough and bittersweet, but it would've avoided the 'hold-the-line' movement.

Agreed, though my Shepard isn't insane, he's had to be very heavily medicated for his brand of psychosis. Retired from the military, tells the council to F off. but kept the SpecTRe title so he could at least stay onboard the Normandy - since as an Earthborn he doesn't really have any other home.

Sounds like a cool shepard! But the problem is people have different interpretations of shepard(even though there's really only 2 in ME3.) They needed a 'happy ending' but one that means Shepard can't come back.

Not really, just sick of all the sh!t he's had to endure. I think that at this point in time, when the Reapers are gone all Shepards are pretty much emotionally dead inside. They're really only alive because they wanna be with their Love interest (or just plain suck at dying.). One of my headcanons, Shepard actually does die post destroy for a few minutes. When he wakes up, boy does he rip into a few people for letting him live.

Synthesis is still my least favorite, it can go die in green fire, but I'm not a fan of control either. I remember telling a buddy of mine how the only way I'd approve of control was if Shepard came back in a body made of reaper tech or like EDI her A.I. form stays in one place while she uses a mech-body to move around.
Still I don't like the idea of A.I.Shep due to her becoming the very thing she fought so hard against it just seems to go against her character and on a personal level I want her to always be around...but just not in this particular way.

I agree. I feel like with Control she's almost taking the easy way out. The only ending that really fits Shepard as the character we've seen evolved from ME1-ME3 is actually none of the Catalyst choices, but shooting at the Catalyst. The only bad thing about that is that the war is lost. Yet, I felt like that was the most realistic conclusion Shepard would have reached. It's not like her/him to just settle and follow the rules, anyways.

Control is probably my least favorite ending as you made that point that I had as well and much more eloquently. I really do just love this series of yours. I love her eyes in this one, plus the energy crackling around her.

Thanks! And yeah, I agree. Control just rubs me the wrong way. And yet, I enjoyed working on this piece. Shepard going rouge has a certain appeal, I guess. I can actually imagine something a la Darth Vader going down. The next hero has to step up to Omnipotent Shepard in order to save the galaxy. The making of a novel, I guess, lol.

Amazing! As always. You always pick the best quotes to go with your images. I agree with you to. As much as I enjoy the idea of Shepard living on as an immortal, omnipotent protector, I fear that she might eventually turn back down the road the Reapers did after their creators made them. Her words about keeping the peace against any who would threaten it held a rather ominous ring (I thought anyway). The downside of being immortal is that you have a long time to become cynical.

Gigi-FenixPhoenix In reply to dragoness292 [2012-09-02 14:00:13 +0000 UTC]
Exactly! In her short speech she displays little emotion. I mean, she pretty much says: "There's power in control. There's wisdom in harnessing the strength of your enemy." So, doesn't this tell you that, if you cross omnipotent Shep, she will not just destroy you, she'll indoctrinate you and use you to indoctrinate whatever race threatens the many.

That's horrible! I know a lot of people had problems with it. One of my brothers hated playing multiplayer mainly because to join a room could take from 30min to 1 hour if he wasn't hosting. I didn't believe him until I tried to play in his computer! He said he also had some loading issues in single player.

Thanks! Once I finish this series, I wanted to do a Shepard Files series and do a portrayal of all the backgrounds you get to chose from ME1 (colonist, survivor, army brat, etc.) What do you think?

Hm, well, stripped of all the emotions... Maybe yes? Maybe no
We can only guess. Bioware likely won't address it and leave it to our imagination...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Gigi-FenixPhoenix In reply to Bjarru [2012-09-01 15:28:08 +0000 UTC]
Well, the Catalyst do say that you only get to keep Shepard's memories. Then, when you hear Shepard's speech, she sounds very rational and talks about Shepard as another woman rather than herself.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Bjarru In reply to Gigi-FenixPhoenix [2012-09-01 15:34:47 +0000 UTC]
Actually, the Catalyst says that Shepard will not be organic anymore and Shepard will replace it. Not Shepard's copy or that the Catalyst will only absorb Shepard's memories
Well, it's rather common thing when people have to go through a lifechanging period in their life. When they talk about the past like they're talking about a different person. Not to mention that Shepard isn't a woman or a human anymore... And... the body? It's not really important. As far as I know there is a race that has left the real world and entered the virtual world in ME (Cerberus news) so it must be possible
Anyway, it's up to our imagination I guess. That's what Bioware wants us to think. What was it? Oh, yes, lots of speculations!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Gigi-FenixPhoenix In reply to Bjarru [2012-09-01 15:55:55 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I guess they leave it so vague so that we all might interpret it differently. Either that or they themselves didn't know what they wanted to say lol. Unfortunately, the ME3 ending just seemed to have been rushed.

Bjarru In reply to Gigi-FenixPhoenix [2012-09-01 16:05:40 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes, they're soo rushed that it's not even funny. DA2 was rushed, ME3 was rushed. What's going on, Bioware?.. I'm afraid for quality of your future projects...
Just one-two more years and ME would be almost perfect... at least maybe they'd make better ending and more real side missions... And more dialogues and less auto-dialogues
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Gigi-FenixPhoenix In reply to Bjarru [2012-09-02 04:54:57 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, DA2 for me was even more of a disappointment than ME3. The story and the character of Hawk just wasn't epic enough, nor the character memorable enough for me to but the DLCs that came later or re-play it more than once.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Bjarru In reply to Gigi-FenixPhoenix [2012-09-02 09:13:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. I had to force myself to play the game. Only one of my Hawkes finished her story and... well, I have no interest in playing it again. Though DLCs were good. Better than the game ironically
I'm kinda disappointed that they want to keep their... ways. And DA3'll be like DA2. Especially because Laidlow seem to have more influence than Gaider X__X And Laidlow... is like Michael Bay... he just can't make good RPG games. He should make Hack'n'Slash games
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Gigi-FenixPhoenix In reply to Bjarru [2012-09-02 14:09:09 +0000 UTC]
Lol. I mean, the gameplay was good, much better than DA1, but I hope the plot just becomes more epic. I hope that the companions are cool! In DA2 the only support character I liked was the dwarf (I can't remember his name)! Every other character was just... blah. At least Mass Effect had memorable characters all around. They should just bring back the Warden's story, but I don't think they will.
At least a game I'm excited about is Beyond: Two Souls [link] which not only has a female lead, but it's also from the creators of Heavy Rain, so I know the story it's going to be awesome.
