Description
Catching my breath,
Enough with the running
This city has boxed me in
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I've been running for days
Escaping the walls of my sanity
The city wants me to call it a home
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I look at the clouds forming above
Little power lines cross my mind
Trees are reaching out from the pavement
Giving me the illusion of freedom

All the cars, shops, buildings, crowd
Can't all of us open our eyes and see?
We are all boxed in this city
And we can't break free

****

This is my first submittion with my new camera. The Canon 5D. I'm really exited about it, and I think it will be a love story. I will still keep using my Nikon D70 for Infra Red shots, and for a back up camera, but The "Full frame" monster is something I'be been planning on for a long time, and I finally did it.

Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 lens
Tel Aviv, Israel.

I dont know, canon makes some pretty nice things, but I find them to sometimes be overrated, and kind of a common site(well the canon 300D at least)
What exactly is fullframe? is that what allowed the colorations in the image? since you did not use a filter.

please do not forget about your nikon, to me they're one of the best.
oh, and why is nikon "refusing to make a full frame camera"? as I believe I read on here.

Canon is not over rated. The 300D is the cheapest camera they sell, and it's pretty good. The 5D is one of the better ones they make, so I'm happy about it.
The Nikon and Canon are very close in quality, and far over the common brands.
Full frame is the full size sensor, allowing basiclly better quality. The common cameras, as the 300D are smaller in the sensor size (and that's why there is a crop factor).
Nikon has no plans of producing full frame camera, only to make lenses fitting the smaller size sensor. That's the word anyway...

ShinnoNoir In reply to gilad [2007-01-07 19:07:31 +0000 UTC]

why wouldn't they produce a full frame? is it very costly to design? would raise the prices?
run down the battery? or is there some sort of risk involved with it?

I've heard of the D5, I believe uses one of those.
Its excellent as I've heard.

I understand canon is excellent,(while their higher ups, at least).
I just hold a small bias towards them because of how many kids I've met who have the 300D, and snap bright flash overexposed photos of themselves and call it "photography" the cameras are excellent but their name has become synonymous with camera whores to me. (not that you're anything of the sort).

If the full frame is so useful, I cannot see why Nikon does not produce one as well.

I really do like this shooting puddles business you seem to do a lot of.
What inspired that reflective photography?

Was this technique something you saw in other people's work or did it just come to you one day?

gilad In reply to brokenzuba [2007-01-08 10:41:13 +0000 UTC]

I've been doing it for years now.
I started with using reflection from the simple desire to try something different

brokenzuba In reply to gilad [2007-01-08 12:18:40 +0000 UTC]

It really works!!!
I know that sounds like a laundry powder advertisement.
I was curious because I had tried a few different techniques of my own accord only to find out people have been doing them for years.
I was glad to have found them for myself rather than trying to imitate something I'd seen.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, a technique is just that, it's what you do with it that counts.
I'm also a musician and the same applies there.
Keep it up, the photos are fantastic, especially the one with the paper cup in the puddle.

Awesome angle. At first, with a nice amount of sleep I'm lacking, I thought the reflecting in the water was the actual thing, but soon realized, the actual thing was on the bottom.

Excellent shot!

I hope you enjoy the 5D!

I want to go full-frame too, but I don't want to have to get new lenses.

Damn you Nikon and your not having any full-frame cameras.

Some day I may get a full-frame Canon, and I'll just use both the Nikon and the Canon for different purposes--thus I won't have to get any duplicate lenses.

Who knows.

Sigh... I wish I had just started off with a Canon.

Anyway, enjoy the new camera .

Very nice photo.

I love the thought you put into this....especially the idea to post it upside down. That was genius, because the brain does not want to go there, but you force it to, yet it knows something is wrong.

Not only did you see this shot, and take it, but you posted it in an artisitc way too. I am impressed. Thank you for the lesson.
