Description
Catching my breath,
Enough with the running
This city has boxed me in
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I've been running for days
Escaping the walls of my sanity
The city wants me to call it a home
Giving me the illusion of freedom

I look at the clouds forming above
Little power lines cross my mind
Trees are reaching out from the pavement
Giving me the illusion of freedom

All the cars, shops, buildings, crowd
Can't all of us open our eyes and see?
We are all boxed in this city
And we can't break free

****

This is my first submittion with my new camera. The Canon 5D. I'm really exited about it, and I think it will be a love story. I will still keep using my Nikon D70 for Infra Red shots, and for a back up camera, but The "Full frame" monster is something I'be been planning on for a long time, and I finally did it.

Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 lens
Tel Aviv, Israel.

IR doesn't work with it, no canon is good for IR (only the 20Da that is a model desigen for IR)

First, your work is stunning. Thank you for sharing it.

I have learned quite a bit just by watching your works (and taking THOUSANDS of pictures). Your journal entries are very informative and have also helped me learn a lot. So I am curious about IR not working with Canon. I have a 30D, and was going to play around with IR at some point. Will it 'not work', or just not work well? This is kind of like playing golf to me. If I can hit the ball with decent clubs I can still play. When my game improves, then I worry about better equipment.

Steve

i remembe george lukas saying his fave light is that 'sweet afternoon sunlight' so he tried to give that light to his work. He would love this shot, and again, you've taught me bout reflections!

I put my canon next to the 5D in a camera store recently and the 350D was a toy in comparison .... I think you have cut another set of shackles holding you back.... good choice. hope the lens is an "L"
Any one want to buy gilads old kit... sigma 10-20. its up for grabs!!!
I like the tones and the darkness and the compression of this shot.. its goes well with the words.

5D? My congratulations!!! How do you like this camera? 5D can't make the IR shots? You use only 17-40/4 or other lens, too? I wanna 5D and i'm thinking about 17-40, but i need something for the portraits.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

gilad In reply to BigboyDenis [2007-01-07 13:36:45 +0000 UTC]

For now I bought the 24-105 lens. The other lenses I borowed from a friend (17-40 and sigma 70-200 F2.8)
I like that camera, it's very different to use than the D70. The canon are no good for Infra

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BigboyDenis In reply to gilad [2007-01-07 16:27:21 +0000 UTC]

I see. Not too good that Canon have 85mm lens with 1.2L /too much $/ and 1.8. No chice like Nikkor 1.4 and 1.8. I like portraits and maybe /if i will have the Canon/ will buy the Carl Zeiss 85mm/1.4. Or maybe best choice it's 70-200 /but it's too heavy/. I'm think about 50mm/1.8
or 1.4, but i'm not sure, very inconsistent responses. But do you like 17-40/4?
