Description
Catching my breath,
Enough with the running
This city has boxed me in
Giving me the illusion of freedom
I've been running for days
Escaping the walls of my sanity
The city wants me to call it a home
Giving me the illusion of freedom
I look at the clouds forming above
Little power lines cross my mind
Trees are reaching out from the pavement
Giving me the illusion of freedom
All the cars, shops, buildings, crowd
Can't all of us open our eyes and see?
We are all boxed in this city
And we can't break free
****
This is my first submittion with my new camera. The Canon 5D. I'm really exited about it, and I think it will be a love story. I will still keep using my Nikon D70 for Infra Red shots, and for a back up camera, but The "Full frame" monster is something I'be been planning on for a long time, and I finally did it.
Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 lens
Tel Aviv, Israel.

awe inspiring shot, you deffinatly are a reflections master. I like how the sky looks like it is going into the building, only i am sad becuase i shoot a nikon d70 and i always appriciated seeing your iso and shutterspeeds (which i supposed i could still use) and your nikon tips of the trade... good luck with the new camera i can see its being put to good use

whoa, beautiful! I LOVE the way you tilt the picture so that the reflection faces up instead! gives a lil' surreal touch that suits the words better than if it where upright, and that angle in a square box is just lovely~ *must fav*

Post processing then?
If not, the lightning in Israel must be different than here. Another sun shining

A reflection works differently from puddle to puddle.
The post is only levels and contrast

how absolutely stunning is that?!? love the contrast, the angle, the composition (the flipping, altough that's an old trick
), the traffic lights - gee, that is simply an _awesome_ shot! and using a sqaure as format tells me: beware! genius at work

"This city has boxed me in
Giving me the illusion of freedom"
I'm not sure about the illusion of freedom - I think what keeps us there is the perspective of shelter and stability.
Love the mirror image idea - but the city we're talking about isn't absolutely everywhere - it has limits that can be overcome.

Yes, the illusion that they can be overcome...
Well, that's the idea here.
I agree that leaving the city is an option, but sometimes you need the job, the shelter, the schools.. and you can't just leave. So, the city created a way for you to "imagine" your free, when actualy...

It's not the city that creates the illusion of freedom - as a matter a fact i believe that the city spoils that illusion - our mind is usually held responsable for our illusions - and our lack of freedom can be a consequence of our need to fulfill our interests... the debate about freedom is in fact one that can go on for ages, and without a doubt one of my favourite topics. The official version of a city-like freedom can be resumed in a simple sentence: "we all have a mortage to pay."
P.S.: my appologise for the late reply - free time is something that i'm starting to miss...

if this is just the beginning, I'm truly afraid on what is coming up
I sincerely (and positively) envy you and your new toy
Do you think you'll try it for IR shots too? I have no idea on how the 5D behave with IR and I wondered if you were going to experiment with them too (I have a 20D, and I don't like his low IR sensitivity)...
