You're right. I tend to flip the canvas quite a lot during the process. At one point I sacrificed the mechanical accuracy for a stronger composition.

Is the composition less effective if you flip it the other way? (looked ok when I flipped it) It looks like everything is reversed that has an asymmetry, specifically the helicopters tail rotor, and all the soldiers being left handed. Minor stuff in a great image, but the technical folk will jump you for it
