Description at one point, i ask you: “why do you hate each other?” the question that spins through my mind being: why do people do this?

you carry on with your conversation – petty anger and whirlwind complaints – while i, pretending not to listen, hear it all – invisibility can be an asset and a curse. i didn’t really care to have my opinion of you sunk. i never even liked you in the first place and anyways there’s nothing i can say to help you.

while i struggle to remember my non-person status the hostility spills on and intensifies to fever pitch.

in the middle of it all, to no one but yourself and anyone who will listen, you mutter, “i hate my life.”

then, the interlude stretched out so long i assume you’ve forgotten i spoke (it wouldn’t be the first time), you answer me. “why do we hate each other?

things happen.”

“oh,” i say, and hang my head to the book i always should have been reading.  your non-answer to a non-person gives me everything i needed just to turn away. because no matter how much i wish it, i will never be brave enough or strong enough to save someone who would be degraded being saved by me.

be happy anyways, okay?

Why do people hate each other? Now there's a question that should be answered.
I like how you bring up subjects like these, things most people just pass over <33 Keep that mind going, 'cause you've got a gold mine of thought inside your head.

-sighs-
This reply is sort of a poem. I write poems to get out my frustration and bitterness and sadness, so I guess I still had a little in me from then. It was an actual conversation, did you know? I pulled the dialogue word-for-word.
-sighs-
I wish they'd figure it out.

why do people hate each other?
i wonder it every day when people who were best friends pull their girlfriends and classmates into their venomous little fights. i wonder if they know how many times i've been subject to their sadness.
i wonder if it even matters.
it's a way to get attention - they're too petty to have experienced real hate. not that i have either. but i know real love, the platonic kind that means you're finally somewhere (i'm not ready for the other kind, don't even want a boyfriend) and they don't.
in a choice between them and everyone anyone else, they've already chosen themselves.

Hmmm... without hate, even the self-centered mopey watered-down kind, the world would be that much easier to live in. But for there to be something at one end of the spectrum, there's got to be something at the other one. I think we've got hate because we've got love, and we've got love because we've got hate. It's an all or nothing package. Some people just make better use of it than others.
And others, such as the one in this poem, embitter their lives with egoistic loathing. That's human nature for you.

Isn't it hard for you, though? I mean, trying to make people see this. Some are just blind to the brightest evidence.

... I don't think so. There's an Anne of Green Gables quote that goes something like, "Hate is just love that's lost its way" and I sort of agree. The 'self-centered mopey watered-down kind' as you call it (lovely phrasing by the way) I think is just another form of envy. Or something that was once love but turned bitter, and both parties are secretly hoping it'll turn back around. I think the opposite of love is indifference, not hate. That's when it's personal, anyways.

And... I don't even try, most days. That conversation was the hardest I ever did try. It's difficult living through it, but there's no point most days even wishing.

Hmm... you've got a point there. Aside from that, how is it you remember all those quotes? x0

I think I can understand that... sort of. But wow, you're brave. I don't believe a lot of people would even start on it. They'd just stay quiet or sidle away.

It's very annoying, actually. I can quote exact lines from movies and I have all sorts of other types of useless information, but I never can seem to remember when we had homework.

And I'm not brave. I just have my circle of friends and don't respect some of these people enough anymore to care if they judge me or not - I spent too much time doing that before. Basically, I'm bitter and disillusioned. In any case, it didn't do any good.

xDD Poor Chaos. Forgetfulness is the... um... hellish spawn of life. Yeah. Whatever, I forget the quotes and the homework x0

Better than standing by and letting it slip. Anyway, to ever deserve your respect, they'd sure have to work on the way they think. And mebbe being bitter and disillusioned is a part of life most people trip over because it's easier to be happy-go-lucky and completely naive. Dunno.

Yes, the hellish spawn of life is a good way to describe it.

Thank you for the reassurances. I'd love to think that's true, it would make me so happy.

They're not. Thus the poem. The "I hate my life" attention-seeking thing is really wearing thin.

Hmm. I almost wish I hadn't, he really needs one un-disillusioned person to stick by him, even if they don't know him. Oh well. Don't mind me, I'm bitter and callous and tend to see the worst in people - or at least say the worst in people that I see more often than the good I see in them.
