I second Spideh. Reality is over-rated, just like insomnia. It's often our illusions that give way to an deeper perception of what is and can be.

I don't know - sometimes I think so, but then I do come back down to reality, and I just don't know if the 'thud' is worth the flying.

The thud is really what you make it. Though you can't control the force of the impact, you can choose where you want to land. That's why flying gives you perspective; you can scope out precisely where it would hurt the least to fall.
Sorry for the extended metaphor, but I that's the gist of it anyway.

Hmm... I think I get what you're saying - but how do you control when you fall? How, exactly, does one choose when to do it? All the times I've tried it, it's happend more or less without my control.

You can't really control when you fall, I agree. But you know that at some point it's going to happen; no one goes through their life without falling at some point. Thus, through the "flyover" you can choose your waiting spot, in a sense. Sorry, extended metaphors get less potent the further they're extended. ^^

Ah - I think I get what you mean now. But you're right, they do get less potent, and also somewhat more ridiculous, as thei life span goes on.

Hahaha, yes, 'tis true. I personally think that didn't make any sense because I was half-dead when I checked dA last night.
I never did get to show you my writing piece that was reflective of your style. Or the attempt. It's not quite so narratively potent as yours, but I did try.

Well, it ended up making a reasonable amount of sense to me, so I guess we had compatible amounts of deadness last night.
YES I WANT TO SEE IT. As in, now! Anything new of yours is always awesome, and I'm really interested to see what "my style" is in your eyes.

That's good. ^^ Glad it made some semblance of sense.
Awwww. I will say that it's like your style due to the fact that it was inspired by real emotion. That's one thing about your poetry; it's all very emotionally raw. I think I may have had to sacrifice some of the lyricality of my writing for this, but...we'll see how it goes.

Well, now you've made me raveningly curious, so you're going to need to put that poem up soon...

phantomnovelist In reply to gimpbeginner [2010-02-10 03:56:57 +0000 UTC]
Well, I dunno if I want to put the whole thing up, just because this "honest emotion" way of writing is somewhat new to me. Like your third person diary, it's very real, and it's because of that reality that I'm pretty cautious with it. Stuff like this is always closer to one's heart, even if it's not as well-written as other pieces.
But...I'll give you an excerpt, which just so happens to be the end:
"Maybe it's because chance encounters are so volatile that in that one moment, something draws you to another person, a 1:1 ratio, a rejection of the rest of the world for one precious second of being before it's retracted and both particles are left reeling from the collision.
If that's the case, oh, let there be light."

It's inverted. NOMNOM.
(and true DD: though I rather enjoy illusions more than reality)

So do I... but it's bad for me. I should just stick with boring, depressing reality. The problem is, life being interesting is getting me spoiled. And that is most definitely a bad thing.

Hmm. I see the logic.
But sometimes I wish I could close my eyes and just forget what glimpse of reality I saw.

I do too, sometimes. But it's better to know, don't you think? Honesty has always been one of my biggest values, and I think if you know, then you can do something about it.

Yeah - you're right. There are certain things you've got to be aware of in this place.
It's a good thing you're honest - that trait gets too rare for comfort, I think.

gimpbeginner In reply to FISHKISS [2010-02-03 04:15:54 +0000 UTC]
But it could also very easily become too common for comfort, if you see what I'm saying. A lot of people feel more comfortable with white lies. I'm just not one of them.

FISHKISS In reply to gimpbeginner [2010-02-03 14:28:32 +0000 UTC]
You don't abuse honesty, though - I never get any negative feelings from what you say, and yet you always tell the truth (at least that's my impression x333)
White lies can be terrible as well, though - sometimes you feel too embarrassed to say you didn't like something, and in the end it keeps on coming back.

gimpbeginner In reply to FISHKISS [2010-02-04 00:15:57 +0000 UTC]
No, that's true - I do try to say the truth without malice. However, sometimes il faut Γͺtre blunt. (I'm mixing my languages here, but it popped into my head in the wrong one and I think it's the more concise phrase anwyay.)
True, true! I find, anyway, that you can just about always find something positive to say about a situation, or at the very least sidestep the question gracefully.

French is wonderful in that respect xDDD Mixing language is vachement amusing.
Yeah to positivity and sidestepping (but grace is for the experts x333).
