they say four percent of what we say is words, and it makes me wonder where the rest went. maybe ninety-six percent of what you said was when i wouldn't look at your face, or in the silences between your words that i always hated because all i wanted was to hear you speak. maybe you were telling me about dragons and cardiology and the way the sunset makes the city light up golden and gray, and all i heard was how do you solve question three.(i still wouldn't have given up your words.)
(i wonder if that makes me stupid or stubborn or just plain hopeful.)
