you're not even my friend - did you know i disliked you before anyone knew they should?and yet i'm the one picking up your pieces. the irony alternately makes me want to laugh and to cry. i'll do neither; i'll smile sadly (you never see the sad part, only that someone's finally smiling at you) and keep on cleaning up.

Thanks. It's lovely that you see me that way. And you... I just about flipped when I heard you were going to Ainlay. You're so freaking amazing, I thoguht you'd be going off to some other place where the other people were amazing too. And now you're going to boring old Ainlay with boring old Josef? (Not boring old me, boring old Josef!) I kinda felt selfish for being happy, ya know? Cause you should really be at Vic. Or at some crazy school in New York especially for triple-threats like you. And you're going to Ainlay to cheer me up by always being happy and full of energy.

What kind of people do you guys know? Even the self-absorbed kids I know try. They just know when to disengage, and I don't.

The people I know are self-absorbed as well as rich (though those I don't actually know personally), and they're much more interested in going out shopping or talking to their friends on the Internet than going out and participating in anything constructive (or at least, according to my knowledge). I think the only time they do anything close to helping (except during grèves at school, but then they ask for nothing more than to skip class...) is when they're told to write something in class - and it's not as though that would be sent anywhere important.
Hah, huge rant xDD Sorry! But as you can see, I think you're by far more caring than most of them.

I guess mine are pretty occupied by shopping and IMing... but mine, when confronted with a problem, try to help. It's happened a couple of times, and it's really made me respect them. Which, of course, made me mad, becuase I like the people in my world to fit into nice little boxes and I don't like taking them out of the boxes and changing the labels.
Yeah, I've heard French schools have a lot of grèves. My German friend (she went to a French/German school) said the French kids didn't have school half the time because the teachers were off protesting something. And we even saw a manifestation while we were in France. They poured bubbles in some Parisian fountain and were chanting something I can't remember. Protesting the recession, of course.

Well, that's exaggerating things a bit xD It's true we miss quite a few days of school because of it, but it's only three or four in the end. Hah, bubbleh fountain! :3 Depends, though, they could be protesting against the stupid laws our president's putting in place, the problems they're having, and plenty of other stuff besides I don't know about.

Haha. Only our university students ever protest... our country is apathetic. And the last time our teachers went on strike was in 2004 and that was because students were having to share textbooks because of the awful education funding the government was giving at the time, when our province had billions of dollars in surplus.
...And yet we keep electing the Conservatives. They've had an uninterruped run of majority goverments in Alberta for over 30 years.

Well that's people for you - they can't help choosing crap (how often depends, of course, on the people x0). Bush, Sarkozy and plenty of others are the result.
As for protesting... you did tell me most Canadians are rather friendly and say sorry a lot or something, rait? DDDx Stupid spongy brain. Anyway, if that's the case, they might not be protesting because they don't want to make everyone angry (doesn't explain the elections, though - maybe they all think the Conservatives will come out with something good at some point if they rule long enough).

Hmm, that might be it... perhaps it's just that we're lazy, though. Protesting takes work and it's not really all that bad and... We've got lots of excuses over here. We also have an inferiority complex. It's not that they don't want to make people angry, just that our government isn't radical enough to make anyone want to stir off their behinds.
As for the Conservatives... There's a saying (I think I first read it in A Neverending Story 0.o) that goes something like: If an infinite amount of monkeys were given an infinite amount of typewriters and an infinite amount of time to bang away on them, eventually one of them would come out with the complete works of Shakespeare.
... from the evidence, Albertans are going for the infinite monkeys part of it.

Hmm... nah. Actually, I've started believing less and less in lazy... Sometimes we don't want to do something because we don't like doing it, or we don't like the consequences of doing it, or we believe we've got better things to do, and on the list goes.
