Description
My rat-free year is overI had an appointment at the radiology and became a nervous wreck because I really hate syringes/injections (trypanophobia...yay ._.). So I decided to visit a pet store afterwards to soothe my nerves.
Normally, I wouldn't buy pets from a pet store, because of several issues, for example: no pet friendly environment, the cages are mostly too small, no gender segregation and so on. BUT there was this small family pet store where my maybe-former-mother-in-law and me saw a green box with 2 boys in the shop window. We went into the store and I was walking straight to the pet section. I really like the store. They have a separated section for the pets, and you're only allowed to go there with one of the staff members. That makes it easier to prevent the people from knocking on cages and windows so the animals don't get physical stress and maybe mental problems.
One of the vendors was cleaning a big cage, so I was watching the other animals in their cages. (They had 2 small baby rat girls, who were really cute.) There was another women with a small child and they talked about the bigger rat boys. The mother opened the box and took them (a siam hooded and a rusted'n silvered black berkshire, who resembled Barcadi, one of my first rats) onto her arms so the child could pet them. I think she was the daughter of the owner. We talked about the boys, they are about 6 months old, already tame and real sweethearts.
I was still unsure whether to take them home or not, because my rat cage is currently taken (injured jackdaw). At home I made a plan out of two large rabbit cages and a wooden plank as floor, until I get my dream selfmade cupboard/cabinet/wardrobe cage.
The next day, it was the 15. February 2014, I called the store and carried them home
They were so excited to exermine their cage.
It was the 27. February 2014 when I finally decided their names
