Actually he did not. What we saw was the high society of Sayans. The strongest arseholes.
Of course those would be smug, arrogant and narcistic assholes full of cruelty and selfishness.
Weaker Sayans were influenced by that as well but I bet many of them just put up with it cause they did not know better.
Not like they would have real motivation to follow a mindset in which they will never be the topdogs.
Hence -> why Goku has become a very happy and goodhearted fella after all the "Sayan brainwashing" literally fell off.
Do not underestimate the disgusting social pressure effect of a society on an individual.
And sometimes not even the toxic environment can influence a reclusive soul.
Maybe Gine has some kind of mental condition also which just makes her aloof to the "play-act cruelty" expectations of society?
I am actually a person like this myself and when I went to school I did not understood my classmates at all for the first 3 years.
