I haven't sensed this much angst since the 5th Harry Potter!Yeah, I know, this is really stupid.
So I have recently been introduced to the Avatar series (I watched the entire series in less than 3 days
) And I liked it quite a lot. 
For some reason (I guess from all the fanart I saw before seing the series) I thought Zuko and Katara were supposed to be an item. After watching the cartoons I could see why they wouldn't be an item, so I scribbled this piece of junk.
This is not meant to offend "Zutara" fans. This is just for fun. I don't really even have any fandoms to promote or dis. I just love Avatar.

As many people that don't care for the idea of these two together, it was revealed in pop-up trivia edition of the series premiere that Zuko was originally supposed to be Katara's love interest; they changed their minds later, creating yet another Disney-craptastic hero-gets-girl ending for the series.

Incorrect, Bryke have said several times in interviews that Aang and Katara were planned from the beginning. The Avatar extras are merely jokes.
In my opinion, Zutara is more cliche than Kataang... it'd be like James Cameron's Avatar and Pocahontas in that the Anti-hero ends up with the main girl. But Mai and and Zuko are happy with each other, and that's important.

The problem with this is we have two conflicting reports. One from Joshua Hamilton, who made the pop up trivia (he who wrote/co-wrote a bunch of avatar episodes like "The Cave of Two Lovers" and "The Serpent's Pass"), and one from Bryke during an interview:

"Yeah, Aang-Katara, that romance. Some stuff developed along the way, and we're glad some fans are more receptive to that element of the show, but it was in the DNA of the thing from the start."
Some people go so far to say Joshua was just ship baiting by hyperbolizing shipping discussions he had with Bryke, but I just leave it alone since there's really not enough evidence on both sides.

Careful in this fandom, they were the freaky fandom before the twihards came along... not to say that it's not an amazing show and that there aren't amazing people in the fandom... there just a bit... shiping obbsesed. Basicly, try to stay away from making your preferences known.
Admitivly a part of me is trying to scream that zuko and katara are great for each other, dispite sue-like dendencys. But here's a thought for you: Aang and Toph? What do you think about that?

If anyone comes screaming at me about how I don't like their ship, I'll kindly remind them that it's only a cartoon, not a religion, and that they're old enough to know better than to freak out over something so silly. I posted this because it was fun to draw, not because I wanted to offend people.
I like how all the couples ended up in the show (call me boring) except I did think Toph's little crush on Sokka was freekin adorable.
I'm not one who really gets a kick out of pairing characters or fanfiction, unless they are my own characters (then I'm awful

I wasn't even aware of the crazy shipping wars in that show's fandom until later. I just liked the show.
Still, this comic is awesome and made me laugh heartily. It kind of makes me sad that more people can't just enjoy the storyline and characters without imposing their odd relationship fantasies on other people, though :/

I really liked both of those characters, but I'm glad they didn't get together too. I think it worked out a lot better as them being good friends in the end, especially after all the hate between them. It was more realistic as well as stronger that way.
