Description
Here's my version of the X-men cover pencilled by Chris Bachalo and Inked by . Tim has been a great help in my evolution and I always love to color his inks.I know it's very different from the original cover, but this is my version of the way I would have colored it.
Done in about 2 hours in Photoshop CS2

great job, and big picture, I'm a fan of "mystical" since I read X-Men for the first time, and I remember the cover of this comic, a few years ago I saw in a store and said that most beautiful drawing! ! ^ ^

You deserve the praise, very cool pics. You've even had DD of quite a few pics, so that's even more proof
The comic looks cool, I would just criticise that the colors look a little monochromatic, that's not a bad thing if that's the look you're going for, I just vthink that their could be a little more differentiation between the characters and background, if that make sense.

The limited palettes are intentional. Hopefully overall, there won't be a problem with differentiating the characters from the background. I think the colorist is doing a great job, but this is her first comic-- she's learning fast, but there's a lot to learn.

Glad to know you're happy with your colorist and good to know sh'es evolving with the project, makes it a growing experience all round.
I dig the muted tons, I just meant to be carefull to not make it "muddy". The best way she can do that is to try and never use the "K" value in her colors. Try using only the CMY to mix colors. It's just that the black normally muddies up the colors. I used to make the same mistake a lot
I'm not picking up rojects anymore, just pinups and loose relaxed art. But in the new year, drop me a line and we can talk about something

I always LOVED this cover, i only had it as the preview in an Ultimate spiderman issue, but i stared at it for ages. I love the way mystique is drawn here.

LOL, I found out that it's not how quick you are but how you use the tools to take less time, I learnt that from :iconnebeziel: and I've finally started applying that idea, the effect was created using a brush I created. Trust me, it helps to learn to create and use brushes, here's a link to a printscreen where I sorte of explain how I went about creating this one [link]

Hey, thanks so much! I just can't believe it's THAT simple... With the normal skin tones, do you colour using cuts, or just ad hoc? (As you might be able to tell from the way a spell certain words, I am but a lowly South African, so we don't have much exposure to colouring techniques down here, I'm just trying to pick them up and learn them as I go along.)

Hey man, no problem, from one south African to another, most of the coloring terms etc that I learnt were all online, although reading the DC comics guide to coloring was a great help too
As for the skin coloring, it all depends on the style I'm going for the whole page or piece. If you check out my gallery you'll see that I change between looks a lot. I sometimes go for the painted look, other times with cuts and grads, I just go with what I think might look best.
Try out all the styles possible, if you get a chance, check out my favs, there are some great tutorials there, and I've also got a tutorial on one of the ways I like to color.
