Mostly likely because of episode 25. I don't hate Light, far from it. I hate the other version of him. Kira. (Though I'll admit that Kira can be hilarious) Light himself is actually one of my fav characters and of course, everyone has to love the potato chip moment.

Kira has the funniest faces. Don't get me wrong--I love bad guys. But I fell in love with Light the moment he appeared in the story. Which is new, since I usually like villains just becauseΒ they're villains. (With the exception of Bleach's Aizen.)

Aizen is cool. It's the thing the happened to me with L really, Light is a very cool character and I liked him for that but when I saw L it was like fangirl mode activate.
I prefer the more rugged and mysterious characters like L. Light is less mysterious in general seeing as the audience know all of his secrets and since he openly shows more emotions than L. We don't find out as much about L. Oh and yeah, the one where Kira is laughing like a true psychopath..XD

Ah, yes, L. I do like his character--although I don't think he should have as much of the credit of being the sole representation of "Justice" as most of his fans give him. After all, he said it himself: he doesn't make justice happen because he cares. He only does it because it's fun for him.Β But that's one of the reasons I like him.
Light is far more interesting to me, though. Probably because I would have liked him no matter what, anyway. It's both fun and heart-breaking to watch him screw up in Season 2.

True true but I do believe that deep down L does care. He shows genuine shock when Watari dies and even looks hurt when Kira glares down at him. Plus he says to that guy (don't remember name) that it was a shame the guy didn't like him because he liked him and thanked him as well.

Sometimes I feel he finds fun in playing mind games with people--aka screwing with them. But besides that, I really like his personality.
I wouldn't say that L cares for justice itself, but he really does care about Watari, and possibly Light. Because they were the two closest people to him. But in other times, he just didn't seem to care even to even bat an eye.
