Description

I’m making a third attempt at getting through the Haruspex storyline in Pathologic. The other two attempts were before the HD version came out with a proper translation. I was so confused about what I was supposed to do that I failed miserably and barely made it to day 2.

This time around I’m on day 6 and it’s just SO much FUN, URGH! I have the plague real bad and it drains your health so fast. The bandage guy thing literally happened, I literally died 2 seconds after talking to him. On top of that people keep making completely unreasonable demands. Like who do you think I am, I’m not a miracle maker.

I remember having time to go around talking to people I wasn’t supposed to talk to when playing as Daniel. Burahk barely has time to talk to the people he Has to talk to. Daniel’s storyline is easy baby difficulty compared to this. And oh my god I hate him so much now I’m at the receiving end of his bullshit. Get your own goddamn infected corpses city boy!

Pathologic is suffering. Please play Pathologic  if you like to suffer.

50 pills... She asked me for them EXACTLY right after the moment when I thought "why do I need so many of them anyway" and sold them all. And I had dozens of them, a lot more than needed.

I didn't have 50 pills, but otherwise the exact same story here. In the end I had to do the day over for other reasons, but it was still difficult to scrape enough together even when I knew right from the beginning of the day that I needed to collect them.

*pops head out* Did someone say suffering?!
Funny enough I've never heard of the game till I saw the kickstarter, even though it's made by a Russian developer. No reason not to buy it now that the HD version is out, I guess. Thanks for the reminder. =D
I'm curious as to how good the English translation/voice overs are now, I hope they're actually good enough to stand up on their own, but Russian language (and I guess Slavic languages in general) is a tricky beast, especially in novel form. Some writing styles just don't translate well.
Anyway BRB mentally preparing myself. 8|

"Did someone say suffering?!" XD Wow, how relatable.

The new translation is fine, I have no complaints. It still has an air of quirkyness that made the old, garbled translation strangely appealing. There's only very little voice acting, mostly in the form of one-liners the various characters say when you approach them. It's pretty unnecessary and nothing special.
I don't know how the English translation compares to the original script, but I know the Ice-Pick Lodge team have been overseeing/working on the new translation themselves, so I assume the result is as accurate as possible.

NOW GO FORTH AND SUFFER!

Even better if the dev team is involved directly. More often than not ppl completely half-ass the localization part over here. SO, GOOD ON THEM.

What can I say, they fucked up last time and then they learned from their mistakes.

I never quite got into the game last time I tried, but it sounds like the new version has fixed some of the issues I had. I'll put it higher on my to-do list

Haha yeahh, it makes a huge difference when you can actually understand what's being said.
Oh and unless you -really- like suffering, don't play the haruspex on your first playthrough. It's Hard and I can only imagine how much harder it must be if you don't know the town and all its people beforehand. Daniel (the bachelor) gets some handholding in the beginning, with the haruspex there is basically none and you're a Lot more pressed for time.
