Description
Hi! :3I'm slowly getting better so I thought about sharing a quick experiment I managed to do these days. Maybe not my most detailed work but it was a fun practice.
Decided to test a set of watercolor pencils I got, unfortunately my sketchbook had a sturdy paper but still not good enough to hold much water. So you see the sky part suffered a lot.
Also, I'm still fighting to learn how to work on backgrounds, haha.
But even with that incident, it was interesting to see how they work and I'm looking forward to trying again once I get some proper paper for using them.
The reference was an artwork for the game Pikmin 3, which is really great and fun. (also the Pikmin are way too adorable~)
Also this time I had to use a photo because my scanner literally ate the colors and as much as I tried to edit the image it still looked terribly pale when compared to the actual drawing. XD
The characters from the game Pikmin 3 belongs to Nintendo.

Aw, nice to hear your son likes the game and the characters. The Pikmin are adorable, have some good and fun memories of playing the first game years ago with my mother. (she still plays it with me sometimes even now )
And thank you so much for the comment~!

Such a cute scene! And very colourful and lively! I can see how the water managed to drown your sketchbook paper, oof! >. < It still goods all around and the details, I don't know how you did it, but they look amazing! The grass is super nice. ;v;
Backgrounds are definitely a struggle, I feel ya! But I think you managed just fine here.~ c:
Yes, time to find some watercolour paper for next time!
I've never played the game before but these little guys are adorable.~

Thanks~! Haha, yeah, the water inflicted scars on the paper are quite visible here. XD The sketchbook seemed to hold on well, up to the point I reached the sky part, then the paper started to tear out a bit hence the big water stains.
But I liked using these pencils, working on the grass was so fun!
I'll try to get some proper material for watercolor next time, it's so exciting to learn new things. ^^
The games are usually really fun and entertaining, and really adorable as well. Maybe I should try drawing the other kinds of Pikmin next.

You're welcome!! ^^
Oof, tearing is a nightmare for traditional artists. ;v;
Just learning new things as ya go along.~ That's what I do, lol. It's awesome that you're having fun with the watercolour pencils.
Yeah, your colouring would be much easier with the right paper I think. o:
Ooh, I see.~

They are ADORABLE. I find watercolor pencils difficult to use—but I think you’ve done a nice job beginning to figure them out!

Thanks~!! Haha, I love pikmin, they are all so cute and tiny. :3
These pencils are very different from what I'm used, but it was a really fun experiment. A bit messy but probably the paper I was using didn't help. XD Can't wait to try them again and learn more.
