When looking back at Enchanted in 2016, I think I can definitively say that it's not a classic.  It was clever and fun, but a lot of the events were on repeat from previous Disney films.  Besides, look at where Disney was in 2007.  John Lasseter had just taken over as CEO and a lot of Disney's recent films at the time had either been low quality (Chicken Little, The Wild), financial disappointments (Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, possibly Brother Bear) or both (Home on the Range).  Disney also had become known for their straight to DVD sequels and teen idols both of which got a lot of hate.  Needless to say, the writers of Enchanted had a lot to prove, so I think they had to start by proving they could make a good Disney movie by putting their own spin on a Disney Princess movie.  I don't think Enchanted was a classic, but it didn't need to be a classic.  It was the re-introduction of an old friend who had taken a beating and just needed to prove that he or she was going to be alright before moving on to bigger and better things (The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, and now Zootopia).  That said, I think Enchanted was a good movie, but not nearly as great as Frozen.

I think the Nostalgia Critic and Cinema Snob said the same thing about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
