Actually there is quite a bit of history to Algol.
From what I gathered, he was a king in an ancient dynasty, his son's soul was consumed by Soul Edge, Algol used a fragment of Soul Edge to then create Soul Calibur, and at present he's an immortal demi-god who possesses the combined power of both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur and he's also not bound by time or space, to put it simply, he's pretty tough
