Looks nice, hair wave begins correctly, but it should continue to the end of the hair (I think). Since the hair is very simplified, I think colored stripes should follow the main movement, it can be done easily if you make the main movement and then just copy the movement to the stripes (I hope this made sense haha).

I don't think going overboard is a bad thing, just need to do it consciously, be aware of it and make it work, you can go crazy when you know what you are doing (when you know the rules, you know how to break them): example1 example2
