Description
After hours of frustration, blurred images, and miles distant shots (those were interesting to get) I have one decent image of a vulture in flight for Y'all. Turns out a vulture's flight patterns are more akin to gliders than most other birds, they'll soar right into a thermal and ride it up to gain altitude before leaning out of it to coast over miles of terrain. It's a clever adaptation to save energy but it makes it terribly difficult for an amateur to snap a photo of them in flight.Related content

I know what you mean they're deceptively speedy on those thermals.This is a good photo considering they were giving you a hard time of it

Thank you! ^_^ I'm thinking that maybe I should focus on them taking off and landing until I get used to predicting their flight patterns.
