Naruto and Gaara.
To summarize, they are both possessed by demons and shunned by society. Naruto sticks it to the man by never giving up and his pain gives him a great deal of empathy for others.
Gaara gives up on trying to make bonds with other people and when they first meet, Gaara is a psychotic serial killer thanks to all of the horrible things that happen to him.
Naruto's empathy saves him from his own personal Hell.
Gaara puts in an effort to change, only to DIE.
Naruto cries for Gaara, gets some guilt going in the person who sealed the demon inside of Gaara, and that person sacrifices herself to resurrect him. When Gaara regains consciousness, the first thing he sees is Naruto smiling at him.
