Aaaaand here we have a painting of Cream the Rabbit and the Tails Doll mutation from Sonic #247. You know, I used to think that Titan Tails from Sonic #150 was the creepiest design Archie ever came up with, but this... thing... is a strong contender for the title. I just hope Cream has got plenty of lives left.
So what do you think about Archie's take on the Tails Doll? Is it an imaginative elaboration of a Sonic trope, or did Archie take its creepiness just a liiiiiiittle too far?

Actually I think the Archie artists let this one slide right past the censorship radar and I don't know how they did it beyond drugging the editor. Β I don't know what is more disturbing, the giant clitorus or the gaping tooth filled vagina that is supported by gonorrhea riddled tentacles that are covered in a slimy fluid and all looming over a LITTLE GIRL RABBIT! Β There are so many hentai lolita references in this I can almost hear the stampede of pedobears drooling over those comics. Β Seriously, this was a major miss by the editors. Β I know Archie no longer has the Comic Code, but this borders on NC-17 barely legal to be published to adults never mind kids.

but then I realise in the archie cannon there really was a tentacled monstrocity with a massive vagina dentata and a big ol' gem clitoris, this is fact, this was penned to paper, this passed the cencors, and that fact may just have restored my fate in humanity... well... at the very least it posponed any genocidal tendacies for another five months

When the picture of Monster!Tails Doll appeared on the Bumbleking (Ian's) forums, it completely derailed the entire thread from it's horror filled monstrosity. And then I think someone mentioned Cream being in leather and ray ban sunglasses.
Your execution of the Tails Doll is quite impeccable, I must say. And to be really honest it does look like something that COULD fit in the games (*coughPerfectGaiaIblisChaosZero*)

O_o So epic and creepy! The red tails doll mutation really stands out, the tentacles are well set and the effects of it are awesome. Cream looks so innocent when she is smiling even thought she has a monster behind her. I think you did also a great work with the floor, it looks realistic. An interesting and eye catching picture.

Ah, the original artist of the mutation! Tell me, was the design your idea or did it spawn from some creepypasta hellhole?

I had a few things in mind when I did the design-- the bare-bones description in the script, which I tried to combine with elements of Tails Doll's normal look (the stitched-together limbs, the ear-bumps on the head, etc. ) and my own ideas of monster designs I've been kicking around for a while. The mouth thing was inspired by Gluttony's design in Fullmetal Alchemist, one of my favorite manga. We were working against deadlines when #247 was penciled, so there wasn't time for revisions when I submitted the design... I'm amazed it got through!
This pic is actually much closer to what I had in mind for the color scheme, which is great to see!

Well, well! I just read Sonic #252 and I see you gave the Tails Doll monster quite an overhaul. Was this something mandated by the reality shift, or did you just decide to take the opportunity to revise the design yourself?
Great work on the issue as always! I knew you were something special when I first saw your art in Sonic #233. I just want to say that I like the way you draw Tails the best.

Yeah, Tails Doll had to be redesigned because of the changes caused by the Genesis Wave. I did the redesign, though. I decided to make him a bit less horrible, but he's still creepy in a different way.
