Description
If you happen to be a child of the 80's, I'm sure you could name dozens of characters from your youth that captured your imagination on Saturday morning cartoons. To me, they're a part of why I consider the 80's to be the greatest decade of my life. They were all about flashy effects, rock 'n roll themes and promoting toys. I wanted to honour that era with a massive group shot of characters from over seventy of your favourite shows. This took two weeks to do - the longest I've worked on any single picture. This image was inspired by the cover of Capcom Design Works . The title in the top-right is the theme song of The Raccoons . I feel it best represents the spirit and energy of 80's animation, and it's something I used to listen to a lot while working on this pic. Someday I hope to draw an adjoining picture with characters from 90's cartoons. Two points to bear in mind: there are no anime shows featured (otherwise the pic would be twice as big as it already is) and there are no British shows. Even though I'm a Brit myself, I will happily admit that my country's own animation is utter pump. I mean, c'mon. Jimbo? Bananaman? Superted? Gimme the frickin' SPACE BATTLES!!
IF YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO'S WHO, YOU CAN CHECK A REFERENCE IMAGE HERE , BUT TRY AND GUESS AS MANY AS YOU CAN FIRST.

Wow you got Galaxy Rangers, Spiral Zone, Dinosaucers, Visonaries, Muppet Babies, Teddy Ruxpin, Bravestarr, All of my favorite lesser known 80's shows and some of my all time favorites. This is truly a labor of love and I tip my hat to you for making it happen

this is truly awesome...I grew up in the 60's with the wonderful Hanna Barbera cartoons, but my love for animation has remained constant over the years
I agree most of the stuff from the last decade or so has been so so. I really loved the 70's and 80's cartoons and I will be using this for my computer wallpaper.

I think the closest we've seen so far is the Thundercats remake, which went far and beyond the original series. I wish other shows would follow in its footsteps like Silverhawks, M.A.S.K., Centurions and Dinosaucers, because it's true that the tone of 80's cartoons is missing from today's shows. The defining aspect will always be the intros with music by Shuki Levy. Cartoons just aren't the same without his bitchin' guitar riffs.

True. With the way Pumyra was actually died and a double agent was really unexpected. Plus there were also some others like Transformers: Animated and Transformers Prime that were also decent. God if only they could re-air those shows again, maybe even digitally re-made. I think I've heard some of his works in some intros... but then again it has been a long while..

The 90's did too, but I still love the 80's for the nostalgia value - and the music! It kinda went downhill after that with annoying shows like Spongebob Squarepants, Teen Titans, Totally Spies and Ben 10, buuuuut there was the occasional gem like Avatar and Transformers Animated.

Though I'm not familiar with a lot of these shows, I can say that I was happy to see the ones I DO know. Again, the memories of my 'teens keep flooding back, and I love it!
Some of my personal faves are shown here:
Voltron, Jem, Smurfs, Optimus Prime, Super Mario, Captain N, Link, Pac-Man, TMNT, Slimer (RGB), Pinky and Panky (Pink Panther & Sons), Alvin & the Chipmunks, Beetlejuice
Though truth be told, there were a lot more 'toons at the time (not necessarily anime), you did a super job capturing the original spirit of 80's TV. I can't thank you enough for the time you put into this, seriously.
So many memories...

It warms my heart to see such a devotee to 80's cartoons. You're the first person to name Pinky and Panky - two sorely underrated characters. I tried to include as many popular shows as I could, and even some unpopular ones. (That Rubik's Cube gave me nightmares. ) I'm glad you enjoy it. I've already collected reference material to draw an even bigger 90's cartoon group pic, but I have so much on my plate just now, I don't know when I'll get a chance to draw it. Wish me luck!

You know what's really funny? The title is called "Run With Us", right? But you're missing a dude who HAS his own TV show on Saturday mornings, and he RUNS faster than everyone in this pic. It's Sonic the Hedgehog! LOL, I can't believe you forgot him.

I had to click the "download" option to view the pic properly, (you can change the image size on DA in the "edit" options if you want BTW) but it still looks amazing. I'm amazed you fit so many characters here, and I love how you have some interacting with each other, comically, and such.
I love how you not only went for the "popular" '80s cartoon characters, but also included the more obscure ones to. Such as "Rude Dog," and his car wich I loved renting on video from my local video rental store as a kid. I almost forgot that show existed 'till I saw this, then it all came back to me!
I was only alive briefly in the '80s, but I still recognise ALOT of these characters. (Gatta love Bert Raccoon, Slimer, Mario, Link, Muppet Babies, TMNT, Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Inspector Gadget, ect.)
One of the most amazing '80s cartoon homages I've ever seen.
...Though, I would've liked to of seen ALF, Heathcliff, Riff-Raff, (or one of the "Catillac Cats") Garfield, or one of the "U.S. Acres/Orson's Farm" characters to though.
Oh well, can't fit every '80s cartoon in. Still great job on every other character.

Given the dimensions of the image, I'm wary of displaying a full-size version here for fear of stretching the submission page. I think the best solution would be to make it clear in the description that downloading the image is required. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't know, stretching the page has never really been a problem for me, and the page still looks fine to me, and I'm on a lower resolution. But do what you think works best.

Thanks, and stick around because I still plan to draw that collage of 90's cartoon characters for the younger generation. I've got plenty of commissions and other pieces to finish first, but I'll get around to it before the summer comes, or my name isn't Glitcher.
