Description
If you happen to be a child of the 80's, I'm sure you could name dozens of characters from your youth that captured your imagination on Saturday morning cartoons. To me, they're a part of why I consider the 80's to be the greatest decade of my life. They were all about flashy effects, rock 'n roll themes and promoting toys. I wanted to honour that era with a massive group shot of characters from over seventy of your favourite shows. This took two weeks to do - the longest I've worked on any single picture. This image was inspired by the cover of Capcom Design Works . The title in the top-right is the theme song of The Raccoons . I feel it best represents the spirit and energy of 80's animation, and it's something I used to listen to a lot while working on this pic. Someday I hope to draw an adjoining picture with characters from 90's cartoons. Two points to bear in mind: there are no anime shows featured (otherwise the pic would be twice as big as it already is) and there are no British shows. Even though I'm a Brit myself, I will happily admit that my country's own animation is utter pump. I mean, c'mon. Jimbo? Bananaman? Superted? Gimme the frickin' SPACE BATTLES!!
IF YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO'S WHO, YOU CAN CHECK A REFERENCE IMAGE HERE , BUT TRY AND GUESS AS MANY AS YOU CAN FIRST.

I love this massive crossover and it was a treat to see and try to pick out all the characters I used to watch (expecially Genghis Rex as Dinosaucers is so under-appreciated). Also you forgot to mention the most awesome of 80's British cartoons: Count Duckula.

Now this is one big Trip down memory lane for me.
You know when I look back on all the cartoons I watched when I was a kid, and then look at the utter shit kids today get to rot their brains away watching... Im glad I was born in the 80s.
Brilliant work!

What? No Garfield?
Just kidding... that's rather impressive, down to even remembering that Mario's overalls were a different color back then.

Amazing work! Fave parts are the turtles riding in the car and optimus prime holding the little girl I like how you included Cheetara instead of Lion-O too, nice fit for the theme!

Crikey, I'm not going to draw every character from each series. Pac-Man's already there.

You cannot have Pac-Man without Pepper! It's madness! Also, draw Pac-Man from the old show, looking surprised at what he looks like in the new show.

if any of you younger fans were wandering why bart simpson is there, he debuted during the tracy ullman show in the late 1980's just his show came in the early 90's.

You do have a point, but I was thinking more about the pilot episode "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", which aired in December 1989. It's still an 80's cartoon!

DUDE! i recognize that yellow nugget boulder robot thing at the far right but i don't know what it is! i think it's gold though because i had the action figure. it's like a little gold rock with little fold-out arms and legs with cute little square hands. i got the toy from a garage sale so i have no idea from what cartoon it came from.

Uh.. I don't see anyone that looks remotely like Skullmaster. Besides, Mighty Max is from the 90's, not the 80's. You also don't get extra points for naming the Legend of Zelda twice.

Dungeons and Dragons badguy you mean....and you forgot to mention Copper form Silverhawks (time for another lesson about our solar system), the Pole Position car, and the semi-truck from MASK.
I remember the little knight running behind the ShirtTales panda, but I forget what he's from...and I don't remember the big pink caddie.
Would loved to have seen some from C.O.P.S., Wuzzles, Alf & Alf Tales (a great, funny couple of cartoons), and Robotech. Don't get me wrong....I'm not complaining...this is freaking awesome. Great job.

I wasn't familiar with the others. ;^;
<3 Wuzzles! I loved that show.

Just saw your reference link...Wheeled Warriors...totally. My rack-mate (guy on the top bunk...I'm on the bottom) in Marine Corps boot camp was named Jace, and that cartoon is how I'll always remember that name. IS the pink caddie her car in Galaxy High?

I can see inspector gadget, He-man, bart simpson, mario, ghostbusters ghost (forgot the name), transformers (duh) and the pink panter, and also those little bears, forgot the name again.
though, I wasn't born in the 80's with HE-MAN or anything like that, I wish I have, sort of, because transformers are epic.
