todmon - from English Tod, a Scottish and north English term for a fox.
konmon - from Japanese kon kon, the onomatopoeia for the sound a fox makes.
hulimon - from Chinese huli (狐狸), meaning "fox". huli jing (狐狸精) literally "fox spirit", the term used to refer to the nine-tailed fox spirit in Chinese myth.
hokkaimon - from Japanese hokkaido (北海道), the northernmost island in the Japan archipelago. the hokkaido fox is a subspecies of red fox native to japan.
yokaimon - from Japanese yokai (妖怪), literally "ghost" or "apparition", a class of supernatural creatures. to western audiences, the kitsune is probably the most familiar yokai.
