Description
EDIT: 03/15/2010 Took some suggestions. Toned down the lens flair bigtime. Worked on the title text a bit. Fun stuff! Thanks for looking!Made with Ultra Fractal 5.04 with some post processing done in Photoshop CS5. Post processing consisted of lens flare, text and some color and lighting filters all performed by various PS plug-ins.
This is for my homework for Misha's UF Basic Theory (click to download transcript)
class that he is doing for us in the Fractal Mentor Project For this assignment we selected an image from Misha's gallery and emulated what we saw were the new skills that we learned in our last class, as they were represented in that particular image. The wonderful image I selected to, 'copy' was:
... of someone innocent
I selected this image because I like how the placement of the spiral reflects the golden ratio as well as rule of thirds. We also learned about using complementary colors which I have done in this image with blue and yellow-orange, and reddish tones with cyan tones.
Because this is a homework assignment, I would seriously appreciate anyone who would be willing to give me some constructive criticism. I would gladly return the favor if you would like me to!

And as he stared of into the darkening abyss of reality they saw a burning light at the end of its terrible grip. A Gate through the tunnell of darkness into the bright new day of a future truely unknown and Untold

love the colours and the dynamics with that certain depth.

It is kind of fascinating, even though I'm not quite sure why. Maybe because it expresses a rare dynamic harmony, like the smoke of an old wooden pipe.

I'm not crazy about the lens flare, but the flowing forms, textures and colorization are superb!

I don't feel qualified to critique because I couldn't even begin to do something like this, but I can tell you what I like. Of course I'm drawn to the Golden Ratio nature of the spirals. I also like the blues and how there seems to be texture in the lighter blue. That contrasts the smooth, glass-like texture of the amber spirals. And by lens flare, is that what's causing the "soap bubble" effect? The "bubbles" remind me of our solar system. Overall, it's another favorite for me.

This is nice! But the lens flare throws me off a little...
