Used 2h, h, hb, 4b, 6b, 9b pencils.

Végre kész lett, 3 napig bajlódtam vele de végülis megérte szerintem, remélem tetszeni fog nektek

AMAZING work. LOVE the shading and unusual expression/angle. And 14-15 hours is what I spent on my first really good artwork also. It was a snow leopard with Sharpie.

can you please teach me how to draw real people, i know you are probably very busy, and i know it takes practice, but i am a really good drawer, just not as good at realism, if you could just take a few minutes of your time to tell me how (in traditional drawing) how you shade and make the face proportional, i would appreciate it more than you could ever know! just any tips you can provide... i especially need help on hair

Hi! I may disappoint you with this but I've never really studied drawing so I don't know how to teach either What I always did was drawing a portrait and showing it to my uncle (a painter) who pointed out the mistakes I made (usually proportion) so that I could pay attention on that particular detail next time. The only piece of advice I can think of now regarding proportion is that you should find basic shapes in face, body whatever, which are easly to draw and "build" the whole drawing from those. For example, you can observe things like the distance between the model's chin, shoulder and breast are the same (not always ofc, just try finding such things in your reference photo) and then go on measuring other distances to those. This might not be clear so feel free to tell me if it is the case As for hair, try to look at is as shades, dont draw each hair one after the other. At the very end you can draw some hairs like that to make it more realistic but it's only at the very end of the process. Moreover, pay attention to the light parts, erasing some white lines into the mass of hair here and there can make it a lot more realistic Hope I could help, send me your next drawing and I'll point out what could be improved there, it's more useful than talking in theory

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glosep In reply to Letomiep [2011-02-26 08:49:12 +0000 UTC]

I grab pencils, a sheet of paper and quite many hours later whoalaa I can't really explain how I draw, can comment on certain details if you are interested but your question was too general if you get what I mean

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Letomiep In reply to Glosep [2011-02-26 08:57:05 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean...
What do you use to draw with??
What kind of pencils, do you use soft or hard pencils?
Because I do the hair with a soft pencil, but I don't get it that live like, like yours.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Glosep In reply to Letomiep [2011-02-26 09:20:10 +0000 UTC]

I draw with hard pencils (2h) from the very beginning and only use soft ones later (hb-4b, sometimes 8b) because you can't really work out little details with very soft pencil, I only use them to emphasise the most dark shades thus increasing contrast
As far as hair is concerned, you can make it lively by drawing step by step, you should try to draw the layers, I mean some parts of the hair can be drawn by hard pencil, other parts with softer and so on. Another important thing is that you should use eraser to lighten it here and there, if you check a few drawings of mine (e.g. the one of Sandra) you will probably know what I mean However, I'm not an expert or teacher so these are just my personal ideas and tips, professional artists may disagree with me

Letomiep In reply to Glosep [2011-02-28 09:51:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much.
I will try to do it like you say, with an H pencil, I always use HB or 3B, 6B all those soft pencils.
And I know practice makes perfect
