Description
Reese may not be alone, but was she really safe? Her and her mother were now without anyone else in the woods, and as the danger level increased, April realized she wasn’t exactly equipped to fight… and that the spites definitely were. April took a deep breath, searching as they walked to try and find the best route out of the forest and into town.
Since April had arrived, the spites around were getting closer and closer with each moment that was wasted. She knew that it was risky to try and fight so many of these weird creatures. In her line of sight alone were four of the beasts. She pulled her daughter closer to her side with a swish of her tail, looking down at her with a soft smile that she forced onto her muzzle. "I need you to stay close, okay sweetie?” She started, knowing that they were going to have to book it out of there soon. She didn’t want to lose her again, especially in a place like this. “We should be at Auntie Lux's house in no time if we run. You remember where Aunti Lux’s house is, right?" April touched the top of Reese's head, looking into her eyes to make sure she understood what was happening. The fear she saw echoed from her daughter’s eyes broke April’s heart a little, but they had no more time to waste. She looked up to contemplate a spite that was a little too close for comfort before lifting a paw, hitting the creature as hard as she could, putting all of her energy into it while yelling "GO!" and leading her daughter further into the forest.
The red hue from the sky was starting to sting April’s eyes, making it harder for her to see the road ahead. Her paws hit the ground solidly, the dirt from toe road that connected near their home to the town stinging her paw pads. The purple gro kept looking back to make sure Reese was still close and hadn’t fallen behind. The closer to town they got, the more April noticed out of the corner of her eye that multiplicities of the white figures were following them. Her heart started to beat in her throat from both fear and exhaustion from running. The thought that they would soon be outnumbered by the creepy creatures made her worried for her daughter's life.
The wyngro looked towards the path they were on, seeing another white figure ahead of them. April started to slow down as fear was getting the best of her. All thoughts of Reese or the other children slowly trickled from her mind and thoughts of blood and death started to rattle and scream in her head.
What if she were to die?
“Mama…?”
Long claws tinted red stretch out to the side.
“Mama??”
They were going to die here.
The creature moved closer, it’s claws scraping the trees that lined the road.
“Mama?!”
The crescent shaped moon head tilted from side to side.
"Mama!!"
It's wide grin slowly grew wider.
“Mama please!”
The green eyes glowed bright against the red sky.
"M-Mom?!"
Death.
"APRIL!"
Reese's voice finally hit April’s ears and she blinked a few times before looking down at her daughter. It was then that she finally snapped out of her daze and her eyes went wide as she let out a little whimper. “I am so sorry…” She muttered before looking Reese over to to make sure she was okay. There were no cuts or bruises, at least none yet.
“I’m fine, I’m fine!” Reese tried to push April off of her as she was looking her over. “We… we need to move…” She said, attempting to push April back towards the road. They were being surrounded again, however, and April was slowly running out of ideas on how to get out of it now. In a moment of true panic, and not wanting her daughter hurt for her stupid mistake, the corners of her eyes started to glow green as she used her Earth Magic picked up the heaviest rock she could find in her panic. When she noticed her magic working, she made sure to throw it at the Yittle blocking their way.
The creature saw the rock heading towards its face and started to panicked. It’s claws began to flail, trying to hit the rock away from its face. As April was focused on attemting to kill the one in their way, another she wasn’t watching jumped onto her back. Reese let out a scream and started to back up as April reeled back, shaking her head to get the creature off her face.
She felt lucky to feel the sprite fly off of her face, but not before leaving some damage behind.
Pain.
All the pain hit her like a train and she felt the hot fluid rush down her face. She could hear Reese's gasp and April tried to open her eyes to make sure another one didn’t come out of nowhere but the blood just rushed into her eyes. She shook her head again, trying to get the blood out of her vision, but the pain was starting to make her head spin. She forced one of her eyes open, needing to know if Reese was okay.
She took in the scene around them, letting out a grateful sigh as she noticed that Reese was alright. She still couldn’t get her other eye open, but it wasn’t something she needed to deal with right now. She saw the Spite that she threw the rock at was stuck under the large boulder and the others were temporarily shocked that she fought back. She had no idea where the one she shook off her face was.
"Reese, we need to go!" April yelled, pushing her child forward with her paw. She would have to deal with her wounds once they were at Lux’s house. For now, she needed to do anything she could to get Reese safe and sound without injury to her daughter.
They were lucky to have little to no problems on the way to April’s sister’s house. She breathed a sigh of relief when she pounded on the door and the tall purple gro answered.
“April! Reese! What happened?? Hurry inside!” As April entered, she looked around and noticed that none of her other family seemed to have made it yet.
“Lux… Where is Kindle? The rest of our family…?” Lux looked surprised, fiddling with her tail hair.
“They… They aren’t here. But April… Your eye. We need to take care of that.” But April was barely listening as she moved to the window to look out at the red sky.
“Mama.. Please let Auntie Lux look at your eye…” Reese came up, touching her shoulder gently. April looked down at her, feeling a little dizzy as her depth perception was all off.
“Okay…” She said, giving out a loud groan. “I can’t seem to open it anyway…” The look on Reese’s face told her something was wrong. She tilted her head to the side, confused. She looked up at Luxia, walking over to her. “What?”
“April… your eye is open.”
Sorry I am super shitty at backgrounds but I am in love with everything else.
