You've really captured this quite well. The insect has its limb deep inside the flower which is also quite sharp and clear. However there is a slight graininess to the image which you need to try and iron out.

No, they're just plain jpg. They look okay on my computer. Maybe you have a much better monitor than I do.

Take a look at your pond picture. The sky seems distorted slightly by very small sharp edged shapes. It could be that you're pushing the sharpness too far on your camera.
