So there's a bit of an anecdote behind this one...
This is another sketch from my sketchpad...the original sketch is just the girl down to about her knees, so of course, I just sort of fill in the rest as I go.
Having gotten about 90% done with....BAM(cue the pose from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)! My art storage drive fails! 0_o
Lucky for me I backup regularly, and had a backup from July 15th....but guess what wasn't in that backup...yeah...this pic.
It was heartbreaking and made worse by the fact that it was a catastrophic hardware IO failure...the drive could not be salvaged(well, unless you had a donor drive to transplant the platters into, which is no small feat in and of itself, or you could pay some service $1000+ to do it for you...neither was an option for me for obvious reasons).
Anyway...long story short(too late)...I had to re-do this entire picture from scratch. So this is that pic. And now I run my art storage drive as a mirrored array, so the chances this will ever happen again are very slim also(lesson learned the hard way I guess you could say).
I think overall, this is mostly better than the original one, but of course, I can't help obsessing over things from the first one I thought were better(even though most of that is probably just my imagination). I got a bit bored with the background...originally there was going to be a LOT more going on and her room would have been much busier, but again, I got kinda burned out on it since it was the second time doing it all, so this background is more toned down.
Used several references of various rooms, desks, etc. including my own light table and computer desk...had lots of fun googling "otaku rooms" actually.
But I digress as is my habit...feel free to color it...comments welcomed as always.
