Totally not supposed to be Red Bull knockoffs----
I wanted to explore the sort of technology that could exist in the FiM-verse (or at least, in my personal, sort-of-extended, somewhat-in-the-future FiM-verse). I'm not fond of steampunk and magicpunk (Dungeonpunk?) where mundane technology is held back 'because magic', which is why I wanted to minimize the magical elements in this pic and focus on the technology. The little touches of magic are all of the Magitek/Sufficiently Analyzed Magic kind (crystal tubes, magic transistors ... interspersed and mingled throughout but used in ways that would be familiar to us, and even powered by plain old electricity). So aesthetically everything looks dated and clunky, but functionally this mish-mash technology would be capable of doing things that aren't yet possible in our world

Honestly I've not really decided, but it would make sense if the jack and mounts for the arms were actually built into her. Originally I imagined that she's powering some of the computers (you know, 'cause she's a crystal pony)

Huh, I never really thought this was the direction you wanted your MLP universe to go in its technology.
Actually, I've been doing a lot of thinking on my own MLP universe's tech lately myself and have used your artworks as a reference guide in some cases. My ponysona actually has a robotic arm he uses to help with his work as a mechanic. But unlike the arms you draw, I want his mechanical arm to look something akin to an industrial robotic arm. Problem is, I need to figure out how to make it look like it belongs in the world of MLP, and that's a tricky business.
Maybe sometime we could bounce ideas off of each other and compare notes? It'd certainly be a great help and might even give you some ideas as well.^^

I take the easy way out and just make everything brassy or gold (for Equestrian tech at least). I like the steampunk 'look' since it fits in, just not steam-powered stuff
The show's never been consistent with how it portrays technology but maybe you could have a look at Twilight's lab (Feeling Pinkie Keen) for inspiration since that has some cool contraptions

Lets not forget Cheese Sandwich's party tank. (Pinkie Pride) Someone made a good comment that Rainbow Dash naming his tortuous "Tank" suggested that such machines exists, and THEN this baby rolls up and every World of Tanks gamer went "squee!"XD
Anyway you're very right that the MLP world tends to be very wide with its technology portrayal, and it sometimes annoys me to find inconsistencies very easily in that area. Still, its worth checking out and getting some ideas on how to stylize technology in our artworks.
BTW what do you view magic as in your MLP universe? To me, I view it as a sort of "energy" that exists in the world, flows through it, and emanates from living beings. And in the field of science and technology, magic can be manipulated, directed, charged, and even "programed."(Ie:spell weaving) Where electricity and chemistry are used to breath life into machines, magic is more dominant in this world.(Though there are plenty of appliances and computers that use electricity)
I find it cool to have a universe that has magic as a part of its science logic as oppose to the real world's view of magic as being an unknown phenomenon.

I think of it as something all creatures have in some way and can learn to control, not just certain races like on the show. It's a bit lame to give unicorns all the cool spells, pegasi can control weather and fly, but earth ponies are just "good at growing stuff" and "strong". I feel like there's some hints of this on the show already (Zecora can sort-of cast spells)
