+ he has to collect gems to survive because he needs their energy to keep his body alive
+ due to the gems he can levitate metalic objects near to them (atleast in theory; his brocken gem doesnt work well anymore)
+ the gems he uses are problably lots of money worth
+ the little flying thing is his companion who helps him to steal find gems
+ he crafted them himself
