The Kang Incident has created a multiversal explosion that created a new Prime Universe made of up of several others. In some cases, people from destroyed universes ended up in the new universe. As Clary Fray would soon find out. The amazon warrior Varia had witnessed her world blowing up and ending up in a different one. She was in an unfamiliar wooded area and looked around confused and paranoid. She saw a red-haired girl dressed in black walking through the area.

Clary Fray had gone to investigate a strange anamoly in the woods. With universes being wiped from existence and some people ending up in hers, it was bound to happen. Her oldest brother, Samhain Ash, had been made acting head of the New York Institute after the nephilim, or angels, wiped each other out in a civil war where the nether, or demons, even took sides. The Clave needed to restructure things in wake of this event and put her oldest brother in charge of their shadowhunter institute. The job was stressful with all the changes going on and some people had a habit of getting on his nerves. Her ex-boyfriends Simon Lewis and Jace Herondale chose this time to take time off. Simon was visiting his sister Rebecca and Jace was in Paris with his new bride Emily.

Clary noticed the anamoly and when she told Samhain Ash where she was going, he was dealing with the latest bit of trouble Emma Carstairs had gotten herself into and Saud "sure that's fine" and waved her off. She didn't notice Varia sneaking up from behind. she grabbed a hold of Clary and held a sword up to her neck, telling her not to struggle and to come quietly. Clary nodded her head and the amazon sheathed her sword. She clamped her hand over Clary's mouth and dragged her onto the woods.
