Description
Clary Fray was walking back to her apartment. The aftermath of the Nephilim Civil War had temporarily left her without her powers. The Clave was trying to figure out how to operate going forward, the nephilim, or angels, were not who the stories made the out to be. They and other celestial groups came from the Omnirealm and spent years preying on the majority of humanity's vulnerability to subjugation. The angels had wiped each other out and their war had devastated The Clave. Clary's unique power has helped The Clave but she temporarily lost her powers.

Isabelle thought that it would be best if Clary kept a distance from shadowworld things related while she had no powers. Clary was silent irritated by this overprotectiveness. Jace and his wife Emily were on their usual couple's patrolling of the city. Simon, who when being cured of being a vampire, inadvertently became a shadow at the same time, was either doing something for Isabelle or working on o e of his creative side projects. Clary's oldest sibling Samhain, who she found out about six years ago, was researching something for a case being investigated. Clary was alone for the evening.

She thought she saw a blonde girl walking in the distance behind her but she was gone. She was about to shrug it off when she was grabbed from behind and she felt a girl's hand cover her mouth and was dragged into an alley. Clary briefly fought the girl off but the girl slammed the side of her head into a brick wall. Clary woke up tied to a chair. She tried to speak but several strips of black colored duct tape covered her mouth. "Hmmmmph Hmmmmph Hmmmmph" she tried to yell but the tapegag muffled her voice. A blonde haired girl with blue eyes walked into the room. She matched the description of a vampire named Heidi McKenzie.

Simon and the others told her about Heidi and everything she did. But Heidi's dead Clary thought to herself. Maia injected herself with holy water and Heidi died after drinking her blood. But here she was standing in front of her. She was wearing a black t shirt, leopard print blazer jacket and blue denim jeans. She smiled as she said "so you're Clary? I can see why everyone was do fond of you....you look like one of those precious delicate flowers" and ran her fingers through her hair. Clary mmphed angrily and tried move her head away. Heidi started her bad guy speech about torturing her to make Simon, Isabelle and Maia pay for her second death and being rejected by Simon. Clary had been working on freeing herself.

She freed her hands and reached for her safety keychain in her jacket pocket. When Heidi got close enough, Clary shoved the glass breaker into the side of her neck. She loosened the rest of the ropes and when Heidi rushed at her, she kicked her with both feet. Heidi was knocked to the ground and Clary ran out of the abandoned building where she was being held. She ran into her sibling Samhain. Heidi had sent a picture of Clary unconscious and tied up to Isabelle using her phone and Samhain tracked her using her scarf and a tracking rune. They got back to the Institute and Clary got checked out by Helen in the medical area.

Jace, Emily and a few other shadowhunters had gone to the area where Clary was grabbed and being held but Heidi was gone. Downworlders were on the lookout for her. Until she was found, Isabelle and her mother Maryse had temporarily insisted on Clary not leaving the Institute after letting move back in, even though she was still without her powers. Clary tried to insist that she could handle herself and would be on higher alert. But, they were insistent on her not leaving the Institute grounds until Heidi was found.
