Description
This was done at the request of my mom who was one of the two people who ended up getting pageview 20k. Since I'm away at school, devart has actually been a good way for her to keep tabs on what I'm up to art-wise.She asked specifically for a 'cute bunny.' Well, if you read my last journal entry, you know about Durante and while he was here the other night, he would play really hard for a bit, then just stop and fall asleep in some random position. In his logic, he was tired, so he just went to sleep where he was and when you think about, it makes sense.
That was the first bit of inspiration. Then once I started sketching this, it reminded me of when our rabbit had her first litter many years ago now. There were two runts we ended up taking care of because the litter was too large for a first time mother to handle. We fed them, but because they didn't have a mother cleaning them all the time, their fur was getting rather matted. My mom found some rabbit shampoo (yes, they do make rabbit shampoo) and after feeding the pair, gave them their first bath.
Well, the tendancy of babies to sleep after feeding is not lost on baby rabbits and they both dozed off as they were being washed. My mom panicked thinking she had accidentally drown them while bathing them. Luckily one of them woke up and she realized what had happened, but that first bath was also their last
So inadvertanly, this piece holds a lot of sentimentality for me on a couple different levels. It really is true that the best inspiration comes from life and also the most meaningful.
Thanks mom, for all the support in everything over the years. I couldn't have done it without you
Media: Original line art done with Col-erase carmine red on paper. All color work done in Painter 8

Lol! A bath is one of the few things that will calm mine down, which is especially useful when the dreaded nail-clipping time comes around.

Eeek. I remember the experience of clipping my dog's nails...only once. We let the vet do it after that...

LOL. Yeah, I wouldn't do it if it weren't absolutely necessary. For awhile I stopped clipping the bunnies' nails since it stressed them out so much, but while one of them was out running, she got a nail caught in the carpet and it was ripped out clean from her toe. So after having to put up with a very angry rabbit, I decided to keep up with the nail clipping.

I still feel bad because the big thing weighing on her mind was how on earth she was going to tell me what happened. Luckily, everything was alright in the end

Oh, wow! This is gorgeous and so sweet! It's good to draw things that have sentimental value to you, and I think it's awesome that your mom visits DA, and even more awesome that she got the 20K pageview. Seems that she's done a great job inspiring you over the years. ^_^ The little bunny is so sweet! Just wanna hug him and pet him! If he's going to keep falling asleep eating that carrot he has a long way to go... that's one huge carrot!

I know it's just annoying and typical to get those 'CUTE' comments...but this honestly DOES call for a cute! :3 So simplistic...and the bunny looks so soft...what's not to stop us all from gushing over it with 'awwwws'. ^_^ The giant carrot is a lovely touch too! This one's worth a favie!

Just WOW. I like the soft curves used, no really sharp lines. The color mixing and emotive properties of this drawing speak out to me. It's a very soft and comforting picture... Thanks, this one brought my mood up a few notches
