Description
'So she made a vow lyin' under that treeThat she'd wait for her true love to come set her free...'
~Remains of the Day
Corpse Bride Soundtrack
What happens when you watch Fantasia 2000 while looking at a Mucha calendar and attempting to draw Corpse Bride art? Well, in a word, this...
I was specifically requested to do a piece with the Corpse Bride and the butterflies (no, that's not an open invitation to send in requests
Like I said, I was watching Fantastia 2000 when I did the initial sketch, so I think subconsciously, a lot of Spring Sprite influence got in there, but it works, so I won't complain. Also, looking at that Mucha calendar, it really inspired me to try working with some different and specific color palates, so this is kindof attempt 1. Obviously, there is room to improve, but it was fun to play with none the less
Media: lineart-Colerase brown on vellum. Painting done in Photoshop and Painter.
Corpse Bride copyright Warner Bros.

She's so pretty... I'm a huge Tim Burton fan. My mom bought us The Nightmare Before Christmas when it came out, I was 4 and I've loved it ever since. When I found out they were coming out with another clay/stop animation, I cried. lol I was so excited and they didn't let me down. I feel like I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed the movie without trying to compare it to TNBC.
But back to the drawing She really is amazing. The colors and just the idea have totally captivated. I'd hang this on my wall...seeing as how there's nothing else on them. lol

Beautiful. But I agree with 0ArmoredSoul0 they weren't butterflies they were moths. Your spin on the character is great though. I much prefer the butterflies!

If they are moths, though, they'd be more like lunar ones which are often lumped in with butterfiles anyhow. Besides, I like the metaphor of the butterfly more

That is absolutely gorgeous. It's nice to see the different influences, and even nicer to have someone proudly 'fess up to them while creating a unique little piece in the process.

They aren't butterflies. They're moths. Butterflies don't fly at night, and you have a moon in there. Otherwise, absolutely beautiful.
