Very cool. I like all the little nuances of detail that are in the monster's skin. The applied texture of the highlights you did. Really helps them all stand out and adds to the overall effect of the fire. Pretty awesome.

I'm glad they worked out in my favor. In past pictures, I actually took the time to draw out every scale and add little highlights, but that would have taken me days to do on this one and I was running out of time,s o I just did the best I could in a much faster method. Thanks so much for pointing that out!

GMK is one of my favorite movies, and I think it would have a very different feel if they had kept the original monsters (and I likely wouldn't have enjoyed it quite as much), but this certainly would have been interesting.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

But, it always irked me that King Ghidorah was the protagonist.

I could see that. Kind of a switch-up from the norm. I dunno, I just love how high-powered the movie (especially the final fight) felt. I read that the original intention with these three monsters was to paint them all as obvious underdogs, which would surely have been neat, but in my head, the fact that normally powerful monsters are painted as being overwhelmed by Godzilla just makes him that much more bad-ass.

He doesn't spare any of them. It's funny how he's the bad guy and he still wins. Baragon gets pawned, Mothra dies pathetically, and King Ghidorah gets killed three times. Possibly the best millennium movie.

Here here! Baragon's death scene is my favorite part of any movie EVER. I mean, I really love these monsters and it's almost sad to see them almost completely obliterated but at the same time they're being destroyed by GODZILLA.

The King of Monsters being utterly bad-ass is what gives my life meaning.

I loved Mothra's. It's just so anticlimactic.

I dunno, I thought it was handled pretty well. She ended up being a martyr in an attempt to save Ghidorah and it worked (kinda). The use of the score at that point really sells it for me. I just adore how hopeless everybody seems (monsters included) against Godzilla's might and even Ghidorah - the supposed hero of the movie - is laying on his back, ready for the end when out of nowhere, Mothra comes out and takes the killing blow (though, I may be remembering it a bit incorrectly... was he about to attack the last ship in the harbor??). At that point, the music turns soft and almost haunting as Mothra's essence is scattered to the wind and flows into Ghidorah.

I love that entire movie to pieces. It may be time for me to watch it again...

I went and watched it again a few weeks ago, and it was just as much mind-blowing adrenaline as ever.

I wasn't actually that big of a Varan fan, but I enjoyed drawing him here so much that he grew on me.
