Simple but effective. Quite a little bit of mood going on here. Water and green foreground are pleasant, but the dark hills in the background and clouds moving in provide a sense of foreboding. Even the water carved foreground and deep shadows suggest that this is a borderland where danger might not be far off.

Nice start, but lots of potential for improvement. I recommend looking up professional-level photographs and analyzing how they're taken and what makes them appealing. The image you have here has a lack of foreground/mid-ground/background separation, leading to an overall flat composition, that combined with the almost perfectly centered horizon line makes the scene look small, like a diorama.
Stick with it man. It's a good start.

Ya, I saw the much improved completed version in your main gallery. Nice work with these landscape studies man, so many things to learn with those. Perspective/depth, composition, and all those other cool art things.
