SPOILERS, SUPREME SPOILERS
Upon exiting the portal and retrieving his first journal of the mysteries of Gravity Falls, Stanley glanced around the destroyed room. His eyes focused on a man that looks identical to himself, Stanford Pines. “Stan, is that you?”
Stan heart raced. He slowly smiled at his long lost brother. “Stanley, it’s me. You’re twin brother!” He ran straight toward Stanley, jumping over the rubble. “Stanley, you’re back! After thirty years, you’re back!” But as soon as Stan was close enough, Stanley punched him right in the face, shocking Dipper and Mabel even more.
“Grunkle Stan!” cried out Mabel, thus catching Stanley’s attention.
“Who are you two?!” Stanley looked over the twins. The worried girl ran toward Stan as the boy chased after.
“Mabel, don’t go near him!”
The girl, Mabel, jumped in front of Stan, protecting him. “Don’t hurt him … other Grunkle?”
When the boy grabbed her hand, Stanley noticed they look like relative. “Who are you?”
Stanford slowly got up. “Don’t bother explaining, I know that portal was too dangerous.” The twins turned around to see Stan.
“Grunkle Stan, what’s going on?!” asked the boy in a hurt voice.
Stan looked at the boy, eyes full of regret. “Dipper, I’m sorry I’ve kept all this hidden.” He looked at Stanley. “Dipper, Mabel. This is my brother and your other Great Uncle, Stanley Pines. The author of the three journals, and him and I, we were the original Mystery Twins.”
Stanley looked at Mabel and Dipper and back at Stan. “Stan, you have no idea what you did!” His harsh tone shocked Stan.
“Brother, I knew the portal is dangerous, but when you accidentally…”
Suddenly, Stanley pushed the kids away and held onto Stan’s collar. “I’m not talking about the portal machine!” Stanley looked back at the machine, now destroyed. “It’s ruined; this world isn’t safe for long!”
Dipper eyes widened. “This world? What’s happening?!” Dipper grabbed Stanley’s sleeve. “What’s wrong? Why did you write the journals? Who was after you? What’s coming?!”
Stanley looked at Dipper, a scrawny child asking question. Deep down, the boy reminded Stanley of himself.
“Stanley.” Stanley looked at Stan. “What are you talking about? You ….” Stan’s eyes widen and his mouth opened. “That wasn’t an accident; you let yourself get sucked in and ……. You lied!” Stan anger builds. “You lied to me about ….. “ Stan let a single tear drop ran down his face. “Why did you do this to yourself? We still had time, we could have found a way!”
Stanley glared at Stan. “Stanford.” His face trembled a bit before he kept his stern look. “I want you start fixing that portal. No questions asked.”
Stanley walked toward the exit, but Dipper stood in front of him. “Hold it! I need answers! I need them NOW!”
Seeing the boy standing up to him, brought flashbacks of himself growing tougher through his young life. “Boy …… there is no one you can trust.” Stanley picked Dipper up and threw him away, and walked toward the door. “And unless needed, I do not expect anyone to stand in my way of saving this world!” Stanley looked inside the door and saw something. “And I mean no one!”
Stan, Dipper, and Mabel heard Stanley punched someone and a person was thrown out the door. “Agent Trigger?” Dipper asked.
Agent Trigger, with a swollen black eye, held out a gun at Stanley. “Hold it right ……” Suddenly Agent Trigger dropped the gun and fell to the floor.”
Cautiously, Dipper checked the agent, he still live. Dipper looked at Stanley entering the elevator. He gave Dipper one terrifying glare before the door closed.
Agent Trigger stood up, looking around the room. “What’s happening?!”
Dipper, feeling the same way, looked at Stan
Grunkle Stan looked at Dipper, just seeing his face broke his heart. Then he felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked down and saw Mabel, looking at him with her young eyes. “Grunkle Stan … tell me.”
Stan then noticed Soos fully conscious.
“Everyone ….. I think I’ve doomed us all.”
Outside, Stan Pines had finished explaining what he knew about Stanley to Dipper, Mabel, Soos, Agent Trigger, Agent Powers, and the swat team.
“He told me that he found a cure to this curse caused … caused by me.” Stan clenched his fists. “How could I’ve been so gullible? Of course he couldn’t find a cure. He sacrificed himself just to save us all.”
Dipper Pines, he looked at Stan that he looks up to, now there was nothing. To him, the great uncle he cared so much for, was dead to him. “You …. How could you do it!?”
Grunkle Stan looked at Dipper. “Dipper, I know what I did was unforgivable back then, and I know the portal was dangerous ….. but now I just wanted to fix everything and get my brother back.”
Agent Powers and Agent Triggers looked at each other. “So what you’re saying is that this portal may now be the only thing from keeping Stanley from destroying the world?” asked Powers.
Agent Trigger looked around the landscape to see what the anti-gravity side effect had done. “And now he is loose upon this world and we only have a week before it happens, and killing him is defiantly out of the question?”
The two agents looked at each other. “Usually we’ll just lock you up and demand the answers to this portal.” said Agent Powers.
“But in this situation. You will be permitted to work on the portal.” said Agent Trigger. “With our help.”
Agent Powers faced Stan. “But you and your family will be watched over! After that, we’ll have no choice but to lock you up and wipe everyone’s memories of you.” he looked at Mabel and Dipper. “Especially to your entire family.”
Mabel gasped. “You can’t do this!” she held onto Stan and started crying. “I know Stan stole nuclear waste and almost destroyed the world, but it was out of love for his brother!” She looked at Agent Powers and Trigger. “You can’t just lock him away forever and make us forget all about him. He’s a good person!”
The innocent in the girl’s eyes hit the Agents. “Girl, that how ..” Agent Powers couldn’t find the words.
“That’s how it has to be!” everyone turned to see Dipper.
“Dipper!” Mabel couldn’t believe the words her twin brother spoke.
“Mabel, Grunkle Stan doomed us all! The author could destroy the world alone. How can you possibly forgive him for that?” Dipper turned around. “I’m looking for the author. Mabel, we need to hurry.”
Dipper walked forward, but Mabel grabbed his hand. “Dipper. Please listen!” Dipper stopped, without looking back. “I know you’re hurt. But he was just-”
Suddenly Dipper shoved Mabel to the ground. “Get away from me!”
Mabel felt her elbow in pain. “Dipper ….”
“Get away from me ….all of you!” Dipper looked at everyone, and then to Stan. “I don’t need you! I don’t need anyone! I HATE YOU ALL!”
Dipper ran into the forest, with Mabel crying from a broken heart.
Later that night, Dipper Pines was running deeper into the forest, he no longer knew where he was, all that was on his mind was how Grunkle Stan caused the end of the world …. and Mabel.
He then tripped on a tree root and hit his leg on a large rock. “Ahhhhh!” Dipper rolled over and felt is his bruised kneed. He checked it out and felt relieved it wasn’t broken, but knew he can’t continue to walk for now. He looked around and saw that it was now night. He didn’t know where he was, he didn’t know how far he is from the shack, he didn’t know how to get back, he didn’t know how long he’ll be here. He didn’t know what to think.
“Why did this have to happen?” Dipper thought back on all the threats he had faced through this entire summer, but what he remember fondly was his friends and family backing him up. But now they betrayed him, they all did. “Grunkle Stan …… Mabel.”
Dipper sat on the tree root and thought about today, the day when everything he loved, changed. “He was right, a darkness did approached.”
Dipper felt his stomach as it growled in hunger. He looked around the almost pitched dark forest. He had no food, no water, nothing.
He was alone, now defenseless for what might come. He imagined what would happen now, cougar or bear might eat him, he might wander around the forest for days and starve to death. He felt like his life was soon over, so many things he wanted to do with his life; solve mysteries, enjoying his youth, finishing school, finding love. All that was felt lost to him. The author might even end the world shorter than Dipper could last.
He laid down in the soil, beginning to cry when he had flashbacks of all the good and bad times he had with his twin sister, Mabel. “Mabel …. Why did you trust him …. and not me?”
All he could do now was cry, cry himself to sleep.
“Trust no one ……”
“Trust no on indeed.”
Dipper jolted up, but the pain in his leg prevented him from going anywhere. He looked up and saw Stanley holding a lantern. “You ….” Despite that the man he was searching for was standing right there, Dipper just looked away. “What do you want?”
“I need your help.”
Dipper looked up. “Stan told me about you. You’re under some curse that will take full effect in about a week. What could I do?”
Stanley sat down besides Dipper and saw his bruised leg. “I see you hurt yourself.” Stanley then took out a glowing rock and rubbed it on Dipper’s leg. “This should heal it.”
Dipper felt his leg and stood up. “Wow, it did.” Dipper couldn’t help but feel like a squealing fanboy, but he kept his emotions down. “So what, you need me to get stuff for that portal?”
Stanley answered no. “It’s not that. I’ve discovered that Bill Cipher is upon us.”
“Bill?” Dipper looked at Stanley curiously. “I know him. He’d once possessed my body in order to destroy McGucket’s laptop and your third journal.” Dipper handed Stanley the third volume. “You probably need it to build your portal out of this existence.”
Stanley examined the book and put it away. “Yes, but there is something else.” Stanley looked at Dipper. “When you met Bill, did he call you Pine tree?”
Dipper raised an eyebrow. “He did, does that mean something?”
Stanley looked up into the night sky. “Pine tree, Star-eye, Six-Fingers, Llama, Shooting Star, Stitched Heart, Glasses, Question Mark, Ice, and Moon Crest. Those are symbols on the wheel of Bill Cipher.” Stanley looked down to Dipper. “They represent the people that may help Bill Cipher conquer this dimension, or stop him.” Stanley looked away. “You represent Pine Trees, while I represent Six-Fingers.”
Dipper looked at Stanley. “Mabel represents Shooting Star, and Soos represents Question Mark.”
Stanley looked at Dipper. “Really? Then they must not allow Bill Cipher to manipulate them.” He stood up. “Come, I have much to tell you.”
Dipper stood up. “About what?” Dipper looked at his great uncle, forgetting the emotional pain he was suffering from.
“I know there is a small chance of this curse lifting before the week end, but when that day comes, Bill will use me for his true goal.” He held his hand out. “What I can only do is give you true power, knowledge. With knowledge, you do not have to rely on trust any longer.”
Dipper looked at Stanley’s hand. All the emotions he had toward Stan and Mabel returned. “I’m in.” He held his hand out and shook Stanley’s hand.
“We have a deal.” Stanley said to himself.
“What do you mean he’s gone?!”
Grunkle Stan, Soos, and Mabel were standing on their deck, explaining everything to Wendy and Pacifica.
“He ran into the forest and never came back.” said Stan. “The Agents are tracking him down faster than I could. I just hope nothing happened to him.” Stan laid his head in his hand. “It’s all my fault. All of it!”
“And you just let him run off?” shouted Pacifica tearing. “Who knows what could happen to him!”
Wendy started crying. “He could have gotten killed by a bear, fell off a cliff, or got some incurable disease just like my …..” Wendy just kneeled down and started crying. “How could you just let this happen?”
“You fat monster!” shouted Pacifica. “I know powerful people and they’ll lock you up for what you did to my only true friend in the world! I … I don’t know if I could live with myself knowing he … he …” Mascara ran down her face as she dropped to the ground. “You horrible monster! You’re the worst! I HATE YOU!”
“Please stop!” shouted Mabel. “I’m just as worried as you are, but…”
“Mabel.” Mabel looked at Stan. “Don’t do this, I don’t deserve your trust … I don’t deserve anyone’s trust.” Stan stood up. “Mabel if …. I mean when they find your brother, you two are going back home.”
Mabel was without words. All she did was sat down with a blank face.
Soos also didn’t know what to say, he felt just as worried for Dipper as everyone, but at the same time he cared for Stan Pines too much to hate him.
They were all quite, until a certain prospector popped out of nowhere. “Yaaaaah! It’s the end of the world!”
Stan glared at McGucket. “I AM NOT IN THE MOOD FOR ….. wait, how’d you know?”
Mabel stood up. “Grunkle Stan …. After we promised you we wouldn’t go searching for the unknown …. we did and found out that McGucket once worked with the au- I mean Grunkle Stanley. He was trying to remember what happened ever since.”
Stan knew that they didn’t keep their end, but he couldn’t blame them. “Wait, a minute. This is the same McGucket? I thought he was some more successful cousin or something. What happened?”
“Why I’ve created the Society of the Blind Eye and wiped my own memories of creating it, too much.”
“The Blind Eye?” asked Stan. “The stupid society that Gideon’s dad in? The one that wanted me to join but are too scared to try wiping my own memories? Don’t you know that forgetting your problems is the most stupidest …. Ah forget it. It would have probably been better if I’ve forgotten all about Stanley.”
“Stanley?” McGucket scratched his head and realized something. “Stanley’s the author, and the curse!”
“We know.” said Mabel, with her head still lowered. “We know. You can just … wait a minute.” Mabel looked at McGucket. “Old man McGucket. Stanley’s curse. You thing you can fix him?”
“McGucket scratched his head. Well I recalled he had a week before going full crazy. Yes, we were working on a cure longer than Stan here. I think we might have a shot, just as long as that nacho cyclops wasn’t summoned.”
“Nacho cyclops?” asked everyone minus Stan. Soos and Mabel’s heart began to race.
Stanford glared. “Don’t remind me of that Dream Demon, Bill!”
“Bill Cipher!?” shouted Soos and Mabel, startling everyone.
“Hey, what’s up with ….. did you just say Bill CIPHER!” Stan grabbed Mabel. “You know him?! Is he out? But I had journal two when ……. GIDEOOOOOOON!”
Mabel looked at Stan. “You know Bill Cipher, what’s going on?”
McGucket held his head. “Only that he’s gonna rule us all! We need to save Six Fingers before Bill starts that wheel!”
“What wheel?” asked Mabel as everyone else was just as confused, if not more.
Stan looked into the forest. “Right now Stanley’s who knows where and Dipper’s lost. We …… Dipper.” Stan looked at everyone. “Mabel, did Bill Cipher give Dipper a nickname?”
Mabel recalled what Bill said. “Yes. We met him first when he was working with Gideon to try to get the deed to the Mystery Shack. He called Dipper Pine tree, and he called me Shooting Star.”
“And he called me Question Mark.” said Soos. “Wonder why I look like a question mark. Don’t have that costume anymore.”
Stan’s heart rate accelerated. “Oh no …… Oh no! Dipper’s in huge trouble!”
Stan ran into the forest. “If Bill got to Stanley already-”

This is interesting. I don't think I've heard anything about Stanley being dangerous.

It was something I thought up. I got the idea after rewatching dreamscrappers. Bill said that a darkness is approaching while he showed the six-fingered symbol.

That's a whole angle that probably be explored. The pages at the end credits during season two supposedly make Stanley and Stanford positioned opposite of each other. The Stanford we know is a good guy, and Stanley... Well, we won't know until summer.
