Description
There is a time at the end of each day when it is not quite day and not quite night; when the ordinary world begins to turn its head toward home and hearth and bed, and while the magical world lights its lamps, opens its doors, and begins breathing out the soft sounds and scents of evening.Even if you can't hear the haunting song of dusk, or see the fairies as they come drifting out to play, you'll know that time instinctively: when it feels as though all that which the sun illuminates is dull and ordinary, but that right around the corner, tucked in the shade, are worlds of magic and wonder waiting to be discovered. That is why we call it Magic Time.
Magic Time is a real thing. It is most noticeable, I find, in the spring and fall when the twilight changes rabidly. I remember as a small child I always found it rather exciting, and hoped that if I kept looking, I might find someone like Tobius here waiting around a corner.
But now it is long past Magic Time where I am, and I need to go to sleep.
9"x12" Prismacolor pencil on illustration paper. This was supposed to be the June illustration for my Black Book Project , but it got delayed do to rafting. Now I am playing catch-up. It appears on page 106 of my Black Book . Art, character and related prose Β© myself, some rights reserved:

I especially like how the power lines in the background imply that magical spaces still exist in overlooked corners of the world.

Magic time is THE BEST. Although, I find twilight/sunset and the absolute dead of night both equally magical.

oooo, I love the bold blue in the sky.
This kinda reminds me of my favorite time of day--mine is late afternoon/early evening, right before the sunset, when the sun makes the outside look golden.

We're all so lucky that we have Tobius in the world now! I can tell he is up to something, but in his way where it is all as if it took him no effort at all!
I love how it is still light up on the leaves of the tree but evening has already reached the grass and creek below, and the fairies have turned on their porch lights.
This is the sort of picture where when you look at it, whatever worries you had or worldly concerns, you forget them and instead see magical possibilities.

Anyways, I really like it. xD I remember feeling like that as a kid. I like going out in the twilight. It's always nice because everyone is inside and the streets are quiet. My ' pencil epics' have trickled off... I just don't have the time and energy to keep up with them. xD Although I did manage to pull this off recently... [link]
First attempt with watercolour pencils... and I love my scanner, because that doesn't even look wrinkled and the actual piece is so wrinkled it's not even funny...

Magic Time truly is a real thing, I try to partake in it as often as possible. Truly a beautiful piece Rondie. Again and again you prove why I had to CHANGE the English language to make a fitting description of your abilities and talent

The title and premise reminds me of Reign of Fire (love that movie) when they're saying that's the best time to hunt dragoms...
I love all of the colors in this. I kinda want to stare at it for a while just to take in all the hues. And the door among the tree roots? I love the golden glow from that and the windows, as well as the detail and colors on the stone bridge.
