Description PLEASE DON'T REPOST THIS REFERENCE PAGE ON TUMBLR OR ANY OTHER WEBSITES! (If you want to share this reference page with friends or others, feel free to share the URL address!) Thank you!

I've been working a lot on my shading lately, but have been getting really bored of the shading techniques that I use. I usually always shade either to the left or the right of the subject, but never really strive to go beyond that point.

I decided to make a quick (low-quality) reference page that can help me when I need ideas for lighting to help get more emotion from my pictures. You're free to use this as reference for your own drawings.

Please note that these are still very simple, common light sources. Nothing too fancy.

Also note that not all facial structures are the same and the structure of the face has a lot of say in how the light hits the face and how the shadows fall across the face. Try to explore other shading opportunities that would work best for your subject's facial structure!

Also, I look really derpy in some of these shots! I had to take them at midnight on a Friday after a long week at work, so please forgive how tired I look! XD

Discussion: I'm always curious to hear what face shape people think my face is. I've asked so many people, even professional make-up artists and artists who deal with face shapes all the time and I always get different answers. The most common answers are "oval" and "square", although one make-up artist told me that I may be a mash-up of both of those popular options because my face shape is so unique.

Good luck!
