Story:
The warmer weather had started to attract more tourists to the Golden Meadows' Estate. Clara didn't get much time left after three tours a day. She was very busy, but she really enjoyed it. As she was brushing off the touring horse Vincent before the day's second tour she saw Helen, the owner of the estate and also all of the touring horses, walking by. Clara shouted at her, hopeful to be able to ask Helen if she could borrow some of her horses for the endurance race she wanted to attend. She could feel some butterflies in her stomach, nervous about getting a no from Helen.
"Hello Clara! How are you holding up today?" Helen said as she stopped.
Clara smiled and leaned over Vincent's back.
"I'm fine! It feels great to have so many tourists here!"
"Well, you are doing a great job, Clara!" Helen gave her a thumbs up.
"Thank you! Actually, Helen, there is something I have to ask you." Clara said, her voice shaking.
Helen looked at the ground and shifted her weight. Then she went closer to Vincent and Clara.
"Oh, I knew this day would come" She smiled. "I think I already know what you are going to ask"
Clara raised her eyebrows.
"Really? Has Vera told you?"
Helen scratched her fjord horse under his long, thick mane.
"Well, there are some rumors going around that you are planning on attending an endurance race. Am I wrong?"
Clara smiled.
"No! I am going to do that! And I was going to ask you if I could borrow two of your touring horses for it! I really think they would do great!"
Helen laughed. This girl didn't seem to have any problems in the world. She was almost jealous that she couldn't have the same view on everything as Clara. She couldn't name one other person than her employed guide that would attend such a dangerous race with that sense of positivity and eager. She is still so young, perhaps her brain hadn't developed fully yet Helen thought and chuckled silently. As she had been prepared for the question ever since Vera told her about Clara's plans, she had already thought about her answer.
"Well, I've thought about this, Clara. It is a truly dangerous race, and I wouldn't want my horses to get hurt in it..."
"But..." Clara interrupted.
"However, if you can prove on beforehand during more controlled circumstances, that you all can make it, then I can lend you my horses." Helen said harshly.
" Really?!" Clara shouted and hugged Helen violently.
"And If there are money in the price I want a part of it"
Clara laughed.
"Of course you will!! This will be such a good advertisement for the Estate aswell!" She said.
"Well, only if you make it." Helen said seriously.
"I will, I promise" Clara said, just as serious. "which horses will I get to borrow?"
Helen took a step back from the hug and scratched her head.
"Well, I've thought about that too, and I think your best shot would be to take Vincent here, and Grim. Those two are the most persistent and tough ones."
Clara gawked.
"Are you serious?? Those two are everyones favourites!!"
Helen smiled.
"I know. That is why you have to get them back safely to me!"
"I'm gonna do my absolute best to do that" Clara said.
"I've read some about this 'White December', and it seems like it is extremely cold, right?" Helen asked.
Clara nodded.
"That's what I thought. I have a friend who lives on a farm up in Lappland. You could take the horses there and train both yourself and the horses. At this time of year it is still very cold, around -15 degrees, so it should be quite like the race. If you realize you can't make it, you can go back home at any time. What do you say?"
"What about the tourists?" Clara asked.
"Don't worry about them, I can find a substitute."
"It sounds really amazing, Helen. Thank you so much."

Actually that's how the mane looks on the fjords when they have long manes. So maybe you did it kind of on random, but you actually did it right xD
You can see an example here: s717.photobucket.com/user/newh…
And this is beautiful, it's amazing how you got the fjordbuild correctly drawn

Thank you! Yes, I went bezerk on Google and looked at all fjord pictures I could find! What I meant in the description was that his mane was light underneath and dark above, in his reference, but here I chose to have the dark part underneath and the light above
