She's not quite a traditional Sphinx, in fact if I didn't include 'Sphinx' in the title I doubt most people could figure it out lol. She's more like a cross between... a seraph and a harpy? I dunno haha. I like her this way though. And as an added hint, the page she's looking at in the book is at the chapter on Sphinxes. Credits to Wikipedia.

Nope, it's the classic Greek Sphinx all right: lower parts of a lion, upper parts of a woman and winged. The educated look is a nice touch: sure enough she was intelligent enough to give Oedipus a riddle. Splendid and gorgeous work!

Even in the classical depictions the Sphinx isn't big and scary, see for example this famous vace painting: [link] . So your depiction is perfect, even if it's by accident.

Oh i think she fits the mythological bill of the feminine Sphinx delightfully well. The Greeks noted in the lore that these were the girl's Mother warned us about. She has a very nice nod to the Griffon in her gorgeous guile as well. Totally love that wry intellectual look complementing her underlying up to no good witchery.
