Classification: Criminal
Midge Fairies have often caused trouble in the swamps north of Volatch, claiming it as their own, for a long time it has been near impossible to learn more.
Midge fairies are significantly smaller then your average sylvan fairy. where a sylvan fae can stand at 5-6 inches tall midge fairies tend to stand at 2-3 inches tall. they do not associate with any rule outside their own. they are always seen in swarms and surround their victim and encase them in a bubble. the swarm then surrounds the bubble on all sides and blows into it creating bubble domes that will grow until it fully immobilizes their victim. from there the lucky have seen them wrap a net around the bubble and drag it through the swam water with a log they fashioned into a boat. from there little was known until recently.
Curtosey of a daring young fairy, a former human, BubbleTech had the opportunity to meet several escaped prisoners and the fairy herself. the fairies, according to the rescued,
are akin to pirates, there is a central hub in the swam a hollowed tree stumble that is a 'port' where the several swarms gather and participate in a organize state of unruliness. there is no single ruler or rule of any kind other then to respect each swarm. each swarm has a 'captain' and a log as their ship. they seem to gather prisoners as labor workers often sent to gather from regions known to house Dryad or alraune. or to work as either farmers or pure entertainment. if a Swarm finds a prisoner of certain worth they might extend an invitation to 'conscript' them into the swarm and make them a midge fairy. general consensus is it's not something that can be refused.
The midge fairies are actually very odd, they seem to each be individuals yet need the swarm to survive and have an almost hive like mentality. individually they are rather playful when their guard is down, enjoy singing, drinking alraune nectar, and playing pranks on each other, which shows some disconnect from each other, as they are often fond of sneaking up on the unaware and bubbling them and the trapped is clearly surprised. However, they way a swarm moves and act in such precision even in moments of surprise, suggest a deeper interconnection. this is furthered by their magical prowess, most Midge Fairies seem to lack only a basic level of magic, however they somehow manage to be able to 'mass cast' or group casting as a swarm. Mass casting is normally very difficult even with only two caster who practice for months, and is usually in a controlled environment. by word of the witnesses the midge fairies are able to in the field mass cast between dozens of them highly advance spells with limited levels of failures.
It the observer's recommendation to classify Midge Fairies as Criminals,
sufficient evidence has been provided to suggest a high level of sentience and willing disobedience to Laws of the Queendom. their abilities to act in synchronization and their mass casting warrants a highly dangerous classification.
It is the observers belief caution should be given in areas known to house these pirates, and efforts should be made to subdue the threat.

yep. some times the best ideas come from the silly thoughts. like fairies that act like pirates...and just trying to think why a fairy that can fly would sail

oh yeah the baburuians actually came from the walker thing which came from thinking about 'what if the a virus's head collected instead of dispensed,' which lead to 'hey thats kind of like the tripods do in Warof the Worlds,' which lead me thing of a independence day and a UFO that drops a bubble ring instead of a laser beam, which made me say. okay i need an alien invasion
